The Las Vegas chapter of the ACLC held its kickoff prayer “Unity” dinner on Thursday July 25.
After years of investment by Kay Yamaguchi and the great momentum provided by the June 22 Unity Festival in which True Mother called the Christian community to action, many Christian pastors came together to launch the ACLC LV (Las Vegas) executive committee. At the meeting, the co-chair Rev. Bill McDonnell stepped up and offered to host (and cover the cost of) the first ACLC prayer dinner on July 25th
It was a beautiful event, attended by 33 ministers and friends. Pastor Eugene Staples,Sr of Macedonia Missionary Baptist church served as the master of ceremonies, starting us off with the ACLC mission statement. From that point on he guided us through the evening – keeping a high spirit that matched the vision of ACLC.
Rev Ken Doo of the Family Federation offered the opening prayer and conveyed Mother Moon’s spirit. Overseer McDonnell welcomed everyone with a brief history of God’s work in his life, the important role that his wife, Fay, has played, and the emergence of the “Wealthy Place Ministries.” He was followed by special remarks that were given by Bishop James Rogers Greater new Jerusalem Worship Center and an uplifting a cappella rendition of Total Praise was offered by, Lakyra Mcdonnell the beautiful daughter in law of Bill and Fay McDonnell.
Dinner, home cooked by the Wealthy Place staff centered on Fay Mcdonnell, was God’s love. That was followed by Words of encouragement and gratitude from Rev. Abernathy who had come all the way from Atlanta to participants in this first event. He then introduced Bishop Ron Thomas of Reconciliation Apostolic Ministries who gave the keynote message. He called on us to look to the Book of Acts and compared our gathering, which included people of all backgrounds, to the working of the Holy Spirit that inspired the first gathering of Christians. He reminded us that we are a part of the great work of God to bring together the body of Christ that has reached beyond the local church to the world wide level. He also encouraged us to be prepared for challenges and to be ready to take them on. “There are no problems, just challenges!”
After an offering was taken, Overseer McDonnell proclaimed the meeting a great success and called on us to reach out in preparation for the next meeting.
