Seasons In The Sun의 원곡은 벨기에의 싱어 송 라이터인 자크 브렐(Jacques Brel)이 1961년 발표한 샹송 "Le Moribond'이다. Le moribond는 죽어가는 사람(The Dying Man)이란 뜻으로 원래의 가사는 사랑하는 아내를 두고 어느 봄날 삶을 마감하며 이 세상과 작별하는 남편의 심정을 노래했지만 영어 가사는 아내 대신 친구와 아빠, 딸(또는 어린 여자 친구)에게 작별 인사를 보내는 것으로 되어 있다. 

1974년 캐나다의 싱어 송 라이터, 테리 잭스가 불러 3월 2일자부터 3주 연속 빌보드 핫100 차트 1위, 영국 싱글 차트에는 4월6일부터 연속 4주간 1위에 올랐다.

가사는 Terry Jacks의 곡이 더 짧고 후렴부분이 조금 다르다.
