Toronto Island
The Island of Toronto is located just south of downtown Toronto. The island is
enclosed by Lake Ontario: the inner harbour at the north of the islands, the
eastern and western channels and the lake on the south. The island is actually a
group of islands connected by pathways and bridges.
On this website you can find information about topics of general interest such
as maps, ferry schedule, activities for kids, beaches, bicycle rental, various
facilities and events.
The island is approximately 5 kms long from Ward's Island to Hanlan's Point.

Ward's Island
The island on the east side with a lovely café, playground, soccer
field, beaches and more. Read all about it here. Ward's
Island
The island is a diverse area where kids and adults of all ages can find
something to do or see. There are beaches, sports facilities, a bike rental
place, canoe and kayak rental, marinas, large areas of green fields, a theatre,
police and fire stations and much more. You can walk, run or take your bike on
the island, walk your dog (on a leash), visit the lighhouse or the duck pond or
have a coffee or a beer at one of the restaurants.
There are many lockers at several busy locations, a pier, a boardwalk, an artist
retreat and even a school.
The park, however, is a seasonal place that comes alive in May and stays buzzing
until later September. During the winter months it's eerily quiet and most
facilites are closed.
The group of Toronto Islands is also home to the city centre airport, which is
accessible by a short ferry ride and as of July 2015, an underwater pedestrian
tunnel. Note that it's not the same ferry that leaves from Queens Quey - it's a
special, airport-only ferry.
The view to the city is georgeous and the island itself is just as beautiful -
it's a photographer's paradise indeed. And the best part? There are no cars
allowed! (service cars exempt). If you've never been to the islands be sure to
add it to your to-do list!
The island has plenty of garbage and recycling bins to help keep the grounds
free of garbage - kudos to city staff for keeping it clean!
