CAAP Book Launch on March 13, 2020
On Friday Evening, March 13, Jim and Leslie Rigney attended a book launch sponsored by the Coalition of African American Pastors, in Houston, TX.
Rev. William Owens, who marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. and who is the Founder and President of CAAP is passionate about the situation of the African American Family, as a result of Government policies that have brought much damage over the years. He is interested in doing what he can to help, starting with exposing the policies that need to be reversed, as outlined in his book "A Dream Derailed- How the Left Hijacked Civil Rights to Create a Permanent Underclass"
In addition, Rev. Owens and his wife, Dr. Deborah Owens are initiating a research organization that can gather statistics and information that will be helpful in promoting good policies for the African American family. The name of this organization is the" Institute for Faith, Family, Freedom and the Black Church.".
Many supportive pastors and citizens from the Houston Community attended. Candace Owens, of Blexit fame, gave the keynote address. In addition, remarks were made by Pastor Robert Schuller, son of the Founder of the Crystal Cathedral in California. Beautiful music was provided by Eric Genius, who also performs in prisons.
Jim and Leslie were grateful to support the Owens in their important work and to meet Candace Owens and her husband, who received True father's Autobiography, a summary of True Parents' Life as outlined at the East Garden Museum as well as a flyer about UPF. It was also very interesting to meet Rev. Schuller who is currently working with Preston Moon. At dinner, we sat next to a Bishop of the COGIC Church who is close friends of our ACLC Leader in Las Vegas, Rev. Bill and Faye McDonnell Small world!
The Owens were grateful we could make the trip, in the midst of the Corono Virus alert.
Respectfully Submitted,
Leslie Rigney
