Do not break any of the animal's bones.(Num 9:12)
Why don't they break any of the animal's bones in the Bible?
There are different possible explanations for why the bones of the animals sacrificed for the Passover were not to be broken in the Bible. Some of them are:
It was a sign of haste and urgency, as the Israelites had to leave Egypt quickly and did not have time to break the bones and suck the marrow123.
It was a sign of respect and reverence for the animal and for God, as breaking the bones would imply greed or wastefulness24.
It was a sign of fulfillment and completeness, as the animal was whole and unblemished, representing the perfect sacrifice of Christ, whose bones were also not broken on the cross15.
These are some of the possible meanings behind this commandment, but there may be other interpretations as well. The Bible does not explicitly state the reason for this rule, but it does show that it was important for the Israelites to follow it as part of the Passover celebration.
