[Know Who You Are] John 1:21-23 They asked him, "Then who are you? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No." Finally they said, "Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?" John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the desert, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.” ð Many of us are under an illusion that their wealth, position, title, fame and job will belong to them forever. They belong to them temporarily and they cannot define who really they are.
<Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961)> He was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist. Jung is considered as the first modern psychologist to state that the human psyche is "by nature religious" His core question was “Do you know who you are?” “I
have treated many hundreds of patients. Among those in the second half of life
- that is to say, over 35 - there has not been one whose problem in the last
resort was not that of finding a religious outlook on life. It is safe
to say that every one of them fell ill because he had lost that which
the living religions of every age have given their followers, and none of them
has really been healed who did not regain his religious outlook.” ð Do not believe that you are who people say you are but you are who God says you are. Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them"-
[Who Am I?] 1. A MASTERPIECE of God Psalm 139:13-14 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Ephesians 2:9-10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Genesis 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, 31 It was very good! ð Look at the Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh whose work is notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color, had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. ð I must be proud of myself. 2. A SON and HEIR of God John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. Galatians 3:29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. 4:6-7 Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir. Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Psalm 27:3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident. ð Kim Jung Eun is confident. Hebrews 10:32-35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 3. An APOSTLE and CO-WORKER of GOD Mark 3:13-14 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. He appointed twelve--designating them apostles--that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons. 1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. John 5:17 Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working. ð 박근혜 대통령 실망시키는 장관에게 미소로 경고 대노시키는 장관에게 “저와 일하고 싶지 않으세요?”
[Conclusion: I am not a beggar] When
the famous positive thinker Zig Ziglar
in the United States went into an underground subway, he saw a beggar selling
pencils. Ziglar just gave him a dollar without receiving a pencil like others
usually did and went on his way. Suddenly, he went back to the beggar and said,
“Give me a pencil worth the one dollar that I paid you a while ago.” As soon as
the beggar gave him a pencil, Ziglar went on his way again with a single word,
“You are a businessman just like me. You are not a beggar anymore.”
