Rediscovery of Haeundae ⑨
Conditions for success of Dongbaek Island Cable Car
“The Haeundae skyline is much more dynamic than Singapore's!”
This is what a Singaporean entrepreneur who visited Haeundae several years ago told me. He thought Haeundae was just a famous beach, but he was surprised when he visited the site. Dalmaji Hill, Mipo Cruise Ship, L City, Dongbaek Island, Yacht Mooring, Art Museum, BEXCO, BUSAN Cinema Center(BIFF), etc.
However, the problem is that these tourist bases seem to be separated like islands, but if they are connected to each other, there will be a great synergy effect.
Yes. If Dongbaek Island is developed like Singapore's Sentosa Island or Naples' Capri Island, I'm sure Haeundae will take another leap forward.
As you know, plans to install a cable car from Dongbaek Island to Igidae have been raised several times. However, it has been repeatedly rejected in the review process.
My opinion is a little different from the existing cable car proposal. At a minimum, the following conditions must be followed for this project to be successful.
First, Nurimaru on Dongbaek Island should be diverted to a cable car terminal. In other words, Nurimaru occupies the yolkjawi land of Dongbaek Island just because it was the site of the APEC summit. It is no different from the so-called 'white elephant'.
Second, a plan to connect a monorail from Nurimaru on Dongbaek Island to Dongbaek Station on Subway Line 2 can be considered. Chronic traffic congestion can be solved at once.
Third, Igidae Terminal should also reuse the existing Dongsaengmal Observatory. This is because it is much more economical than building a new terminal and is advantageous for connecting with existing promenades.
Haeundae already has an international tourism infrastructure.
If the Dongbaek Island~Igidae cable car project is successful, Haeundae will take a leap forward as an international tourist city comparable to Singapore or Naples.
If you find an excuse not to do it anymore, Haeundae will have no choice but to stay as a third-rate tourist city forever.
