The Lord Gives Victory
1
The Lord said /to my Lord,
“Sit /in the place of honor /at my right hand
until I humble your enemies,
making them a footstool under your feet.”
1
The Lord 주 하나님께서 said 말씀하셨습니다 /to my 나의 Lord 주님께,
“Sit 앉으라 /in the place 그 자리에 of honor 존귀의 /at my 내 right hand 오른손 쪽에
until 그때까지 I 내가 humble 낮출 때까지 your 너의 enemies 원수들을,
making 만들면서 them 그들을 a footstool 발등상으로 under your 네 feet 발아래.”
* 사역 동사 5 형식, making [them] [a footstool under your feet].
Matthew 22:44, Jesus quotes this verse in a discussion with the Pharisees
in order to prove that the Messiah is more than David’s son; He is David’s Lord.
* CEV
1 The Lord said /to my Lord,
“Sit /at my right side,
until I make [your enemies] /into a footstool /for you.”
1 The Lord 주 하나님께서 said 말씀하셨습니다 /to my 나의 Lord 주님께,
“Sit 앉으라 /at my 내 right side 오른쪽에,
until 그때까지 I 내가 make 만들 때까지 [your 너의 enemies 원수들을] /into a footstool 발등상으로
/for you 너를 위한.”
2
The Lord will extend [your powerful kingdom] /from Jerusalem;
you will rule over [your enemies].
2
The Lord 주 하나님께서는 will extend 확장할 것입니다 [your 당신의 powerful 강력한 kingdom 왕국을]
/from Jerusalem 예루살렘으로부터;
you 당신께서는 will rule over 통치할 것입니다 [your 당신의 enemies 원수들을].
* rule over. To exercise absolute authority or control over someone or something.
* CEV
2 The Lord will let [your power] [reach out /from Zion],
and you will rule over [your enemies].
2 The Lord 주 하나님께서는 will let 허락하실 것이고 [your 당신의 power 권력이] [reach out 손 내밀도록
/from Zion 시온으로부터 ],
and you 당신께서는 will rule over 통치할 것입니다 [your 당신의 enemies 원수들을].
* 사역동사 5 형식, let [your power] [reach out /from Zion], 목적이 목보하게 동사하다
* REACH OUT : to attempt to establish friendly or sympathetic relations (with someone)
3
When you go /to war,
your people will serve [you] /willingly.
You are arrayed /in holy garments,
and your strength will be renewed /each day /like the morning dew.
3
When 그때 you 당신께서 go 가실 때 /to war 전장으로,
your 당신의 people 백성들은 will serve 섬길 것입니다 [you 당신을] /willingly 자원하여.
You 당신께서는 are arrayed 차려 입혀지실 것이고 /in holy 거룩한 garments 옷감으로,
and your 당신의 strength 힘은 will be renewed 새롭게 될 것입니다 /each day 매일
/like the morning 아침 dew 이슬같이.
* go to war : to begin to engage in war with another.
* 수동태 be+pp ; are arrayed, be renewed
* CEV
3 Your glorious power will be seen /on the day () you begin [to rule].
You will wear [the sacred robes]
and shine /like the morning sun /in all of your strength.
3 Your 당신의 glorious 영광스러운 power 권능은 will be seen 보여질 것이고 /on the day 그날에
(that) you 당신께서 begin 시작하는 날 [to rule] 통치하시기를.
You 당신께서는 will wear 입으실 것이고 [the sacred 신성한 robes 예복을]
and shine 빛날 것입니다 /like the morning 아침 sun 해 같이 /in all 모든 of your 당신의 strength 힘에서.
* 전목인 명사구, the day (that) you begin [to rule].
4
The Lord has taken an oath and will not break his vow:
“You are a priest /forever /in the order of Melchizedek.”
4
The Lord 주 하나님께서는 has taken 취하실 것이고 an oath 맹세를
and will not break 깨지 않으실 것입니다 his 그분의 vow 서원을:
“You 너는 are a priest 제사장이다 /forever 영원히
/in the order 서열에서 of Melchizedek 멜기세덱의.”
Genesis provides background regarding the identity of Melchizedek,
Psalm 110 connects Melchizedek to the Messiah,
and Hebrews chapters 5, 6, and 7 describe the supremacy of Jesus as the Great High Priest,
using Melchizedek’s role as an illustration of Jesus’ priesthood and kingship.
* CEV
4 The Lord has made [a promise //that will never be broken]:
“You will be a priest /forever, /just like Melchizedek.”
4 The Lord 주 하나님께서는 has made 만드셨습니다 [a promise 한 약속을 //that 그건 will never 결코
be broken 안 깨질]:
“You 너는 will be a priest 제사장일 것이다 /forever 영원히, /just like Melchizedek 멜기세덱같이.”
* 목적인 명사구, a promise //that will never be broken]:
5
The Lord stands /at your right hand /to protect you.
He will strike down [many kings] /when his anger erupts.
5
The Lord 주 하나님께서 stands 서 계십니다 /at your 당신의 right hand 오른손 쪽에 /to protect 보호하시려고
you 당신을.
He 그분께서는 will strike down 치실 것입니다 [many 많은 kings 왕들을]
/when 그때 his 그분의 anger 분노가 erupts 폭발할 때.
* 부역 부정사구, /to protect you.
* strike down ; cause to fall by or as if by delivering a blow.
* CEV
5 The Lord is at your right side,
and when he gets angry
he will crush [the other kings].
5 The Lord 주 하나님께서는 is 계십니다 at your 당신의 right 오른 side 쪽에,
and 그리고 when 그때 he 그분께서 gets 되실 때 angry 화내시게
he 그분께서는 will crush 깨뜨릴 것입니다 [the other 다른 kings 왕들을].
* get = become
* 주님께서 깰 다른 왕들 중에는 주님을 반대적대하는 세상 왕/대통령/권력자들도 있지만 그들보다 더 많은 왕들인
6
He will punish the nations
and fill [their lands] /with corpses;
he will shatter heads /over the whole earth.
6
He 그분께서는 will punish 처벌하시고 the nations 나라들을
and fill 채울 것입니다 [their 그들의 lands 땅들을] /with corpses 시체로;
he 그분께서는 will shatter 산산조각 내실 것입니다 heads 머리들을 /over the whole 전체 earth 땅 위에.
* CEV
6 He will judge the nations
and crack their skulls,
leaving piles of dead bodies /all over the earth.
6 He 그분께서는 will judge 심판하시고 the nations 나라들을
and crack 깨실 것이다 their 그들의 skulls 두개골을,
leaving 남기시며 piles 산더미를 of dead bodies 주검들의 /all 모든 over the earth 땅 위에.
* 삽입구인 형역 현분사구 leaving piles of dead bodies /all over the earth.
7
But he himself will be refreshed /from brooks /along the way.
He will be victorious.
7
But 그러나 he himself 그분 자신께서는 will be refreshed 새롭게 되실 것이다 /from brooks 시내로부터
/along the way 길 옆에 있는.
He 그분께서는 will be 되실 것이다 victorious 승리롭게.
* 강조사로 쓰인 재귀 대명사,
* CEV
7 He will drink /from any stream //that he chooses,
while winning victory after victory.
7 He 그분께서는 will drink 마실 것이다 /from any 어느 stream 시내로부터라도 //that he 그분께서 chooses 선택하시는,
while 그동안 winning 획득하시는 동안 victory 승리에 after victory 승리를.
* 전목인 목적인 명사구, any stream //that he chooses (목),
* 축약된 부사절 while winning victory after victory. = while he wins [victory after victory].
Keil and Delitzsch Biblical Commentary on the Old Testament
Psalm 110:7 expresses the toil of his battle, and Psalm 110:7 the reward of undertaking the toil. על־כּן is therefore equivalent to ἀντὶ τούτου. בּדּרך, however, although it might belong to מגּחל
(of the brook by the wayside, Psalm 83:10; Psalm 106:7), is correctly drawn to ישׁתּה by the accentuation:
he shall on his arduous way, the way of his mission (cf. Psalm 102:24), be satisfied with a drink from the brook.
He will stand still only for a short time to refresh himself,
and in order then to fight afresh;
he will unceasingly pursue his work of victory without giving himself any time for rest and sojourn,
and therefore (as the reward for it) it shall come to pass that he may lift his head on high as victor;
and this, understood in a christological sense, harmonizes essentially with Philippians 2:8., Hebrews 12:2, Revelation 5:9.
