Speech Practice
- In the past, I couldn't understand the reason why
my parents are obssessd with looking after potted
plants at home.
But now that I've done it (for) myself, plants don't
simply make me happy - they provide a sense of
healing.
Raising plants is highly effective in gathering myself.
+ be obssessed with 명사 : ~에 집착하다,고수하다
cf) fixated on : ~에 꽂힌, 집착하는
+ look after : ~을 돌보다
+ a sense of healing : 치유되는 느낌
+ be highly effective in : ~에 매우 효과가 있다
-It's wonderful that plants are living things just like me,
even though they can't move.
I feel a sense of gratitude when I see them growing
slowly but surely right next to me.
+ a sense of gratitude :감사한 마음
+ it's wonderful that : ~이 놀랍다, 경이롭게 느껴지다
(입트영 본문에는 It amazes that~로 표현)
+ see them growing:지각동사(see) 목적어(them)
-My plants are always by my side, and we spend
our days together.
The plants rely on me, and I rely on them, too.
That's why I devote myself to raising them.
+ devote oneself to : ~에 정성을 다하다
(=depend on, count on, turn to)
-On days when I feel stressed out, I stare vacantly
at my plants.
Their green color clears my eyes, and I feel fulfilled
by seeing how they've changed a bit since yesterday.
+ feel stressed out : 스트레스를 받다

cf) get a sense of accomplishment : 보람을 느끼다

- I can blow off steam by spending some time healing
with my plants this way.
I think I can't have too many plants at my place.

Why You Need Plants in Your Life
One of the main reasons is that plants essentially
do the opposite of what humans do.
Plants release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide.
Research has revealed that houseplants can remove
nearly 90% of toxins from the air.
Indoor plants serve both a practical and aesthetic
purpose.
They can help regulate humidity as well as increase
levels of positivity.
Studies have shown that plants improve concentration
and productivity while simultaneously reducing stress.
The act of taking care of plants gives people a sense of
purpose and is rewarding.
An indoor garden can be a person's refuge from
the outside world.
Whether you live in a small apartment or a large house,
having plants in your home will improve your health
and overall happiness.
To sum up, plants can boost your mood, productivity,
concentraion and creativity.
In addition to that, plants can help provide privacy
and reduce noise levels in the home.
