Software upgrade
각 NAVAREA 별 EGC(INMARSAT-C에 내장) 기능을 통한 MSI(해사안전정보)
위성 Coverage Map & 3세대 back up 위성 Map 제공 필요)
Following our
previous I-3 to I-4 migration notice issued in February,
please find below an update on the dates for the first migration of services
from the Atlantic Ocean Region West (AORW) I-3 satellite to the Americas (AMER)
I-4 satellite.
This migration
will be performed in two stages:
Migration
of Fleet 77, Swift 64 and Classic Aero services is scheduled to take place
on 30 April 2018 at 17:30 UTC(subject to final confirmation).
Migration
of Inmarsat C (to include Aero C and Mini C) services has been rescheduled
to take place on 09 May 2018 at 14:00 UTC.
Our primary
objective is to ensure that the transition process is as seamless as possible
for our partners and customers.
The transition
of services from the I-3 fleet onto our I-4 constellation will continue
throughout 2018 and will take approximately nine months to complete. Our
approach is to migrate all services (Inmarsat C, Fleet 77, Swift 64 and Classic
Aero), satellite by satellite, as per the schedule shown in the table below.
I-3 to I-4 migration
Timing
Atlantic Ocean Region West (AORW) I-3 to Americas
(AMER) I-4
Fleet 77, Swift 64 and Classic Aero services – 30
April 2018 at 17:30 UTC (subject to final confirmation)
Inmarsat C (to
include Aero C and Mini C) services – 09 May 2018 at 14:00 UTC
Pacific Ocean Region (POR) I-3 to Asia/Pacific (APAC)
I-4
End Q2 2018
Atlantic Ocean Region East (AORE) I-3 moved from 15.5W
to 54W (I-3 F5 satellite)
End Q3 2018
Indian Ocean Region (IOR) I-3 to Alphasat EMEA I-4
End Q4 2018
Due to the move
from the I-3 to the I-4 satellites, the coverage areas will change and users
will need to ensure that their devices are pointed to the relevant satellite.
This process will generally be managed automatically by the terminal without
the need for user intervention. However, in some instances, users will need to
manually repoint their devices to the appropriate satellite.
Inmarsat
C users should ensure that their local applications (e.g. data reporting)
will operate correctly if they are using a different Inmarsat satellite
and are advised to contact their applications provider for any support.
Classic
Aero and Swift 64 users are advised to contact their equipment
manufacturers to confirm whether a configuration update will be required
to support the migration.
Each migration
step will cause a short outage while services are moved onto the I-4
satellites. Under supervision of the International Mobile Satellite
Organisation (IMSO), the Global Maritime Distress Safety System (GMDSS) and
Maritime Safety Services will be closely monitored during the migration, as
will the Classic Aero Safety Service. These safety services will be restored
first with the highest priority.
Final dates for
the transfer of services of the POR, AORE and IOR will be confirmed
approximately six weeks prior to the start of each migration to the
corresponding satellite.
We will continue
to communicate with you throughout the planning and execution phases of the
migrations, providing additional details as and when necessary.
If you have any
questions or concerns, please contact your Inmarsat representative, who will be
able to assist.
