The largest table dolmen in Ganghwa is located in Bugeun-ri,Hajeom-myeon and was registered by UNESCO in December 2000.the cap stone is 6.4 meters long and 5.2 meters wide.The cap stone was supported by 2 supporting stones and it was estimated that another 2 stones blocked the dolmen on each side but they have disappeared with the passing of time.There are abdut 160 dolmen in Ganghwa,70 are registered as World Heritage
Dolmen Type
Table style:The table-style dolmen is constructed with three or four flat stones,initially placed in the ground first.Then the blocking stone,called the "cap stone" is placed on top as a cover.It creates a chamber structure for burial tombs and it looks like a table
Baduk Board style:The chamber of this style Dolmen is located underground.A Blocking stone is put on the chamber and then more then 4 supporting stones were set up around the chamber and finally it was completed with a cap stone.This style of dolmen are found mainly in the southern regions of Korean peninsula.
Capstone style:This style dolmen doesn't have any supportting stones around the underground chamber. A direct capstone covers the chamber,implying the name capstones or laying stone dolmen.
Capstone dolmen have been also been found in the northren part of the Han River.
