Why should Korea be the primary tourist destination in your bucket list? 1. Korea is the country where the past and the present are breathing together. 1). Needless to say, South Korea is known worldwide not only for its rapid modern technological advances but also its urbanization. Korea is full of modern facilities.  Korea is recognized as the country that developed the fastest way out of the scrapped economy of war. 2). Korea is a country where the craze for modern pop culture is swirling. Korean wave became global phenomenon. In pop music arena, BTS and Black Pink are Korean world pop singers. In drama, Squid game and Parasite and Surinam etc are world hit Korean drama. Korea has been one of the major world pop culture since 1990’s. 3). Today, Seoul is full of modern facilties connected by dozens of subway lines, such as shopping malls, grand and splendid buildings and apartments building, and artistically gorgeous architectures.  However, Seoul still containes Korean traditional palaces and historical sites and historical villages filled with traditional houses. Thus, Seoul is considered as the city where the past and present coexist.  2. In the Confucian cultural sphere, Korea is the only country, where Confucian culture is alive and breathing. 1). In the Confucian cultural sphere, Korea is the only country, where Confucianism was applied to the reality beyond national ideology.  Such as political and culture and social system and even architecture reflect Confucianism. 2). In addition to Jongmyo Shrine, memorial ritual held there and the music and dance performed for the rite were also proclaimed as UNESCO INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF HUMANITY. * In China, they have also imperial ancestral temple in Beijing, but it was remodeled during Chinese communist government, and in Japan, their shrine is different one from Confucian tradition.  3).
