주제별 기출문제
다음의 기출문제는 배경 설문(Background survey)의 주제별, 문제의 유형(Task type)별로 분류된 것이다. 배경설문은 OPIc 공식 홈페이지를, 문제 유형은 1페이지의 설명을 참조한다.
A. Self-introduction
§ Task 1 Tell me a little bit about yourself.
B. Work
§ Task 1 You indicated you work. Describe what your office or work space looks like in as much detail as you can.
§ Task 1 Please describe your manager or boss in as much detail as possible.
§ Task 2 What do you do at work on a typical day? What are some of your responsibilities?

C. School
§ Task 1 Tell me about the kind of technology you use at school.
§ Task 1 I’d like to know more about your school. What does it look like? What are the students and teachers like? What’s it like to attend there?
§ Task 2 I’d like to hear about your normal school day. What do you do when you don’t have classes? Where do you usually study? Tell me as much as you can.
§ Task 2 How do you get to school? Is that the quickest way? Why did you choose that mode of transportation?
§ Task 3 Tell me about something memorable that happened to you in one of your classes. It could be something funny or unexpected. Tell me the whole story from beginning to end.

§ Task 4 You suddenly become ill and aren’t able to take an exam. Call the professor, leave a message explaining your situation and then offer two or three alternatives to taking the exam today.

D. Home & Neighborhood
§ Task 1 Now I would like to talk about where you live. Can you describe your home? What does it look like? Give me a description with a lot of detail.
§ Task 1 I would like you to talk about where you live. Could you describe your neighborhood? What are the buildings and the people like there?
§ Task 2 What is your normal routine at home? What things do you usually do during the weekdays? What kinds of things do you do on the weekend?
§ Task 2 What do you do with your neighbors? Tell me how often you see them, what you like to do with them, what you talk about with them, and anything else you would like to add.
§ Task 3 Tell me how you first met one of your neighbors. Describe in detail when you met and everything that happened during your first few meetings.
§ Task 3 Think back to the day when you moved into your current home. When did you move? Who helped you? Tell me everything that happened that moving day. Be sure to include anything that was particularly memorable about the move.
§ Task 4 I’d like to give you a situation and ask you to act it out. Imagine that a neighbor or family member asks you to take care of his/her plants while he/she is away. Ask three or four questions to find out what you need to do.

Call your friend or your family member, explain in detail what happened to the plant, and make two or three suggestions for replacing it.
E. Free time
§ Task 1 Who is your favorite character from any movie/TV show? Why is that character your favorite? Describe him/her in detail.
§ Task 1 You indicated in the survey that you go to restaurants. Can you tell me about one of your favorite restaurants? Describe it and tell me what you like about that restaurant.
§ Task 2 A lot of people do household chores on the weekend. On a typical weekend, what chores do you have to do, how do you do them, and who helps you complete them?
§ Task 2 You indicated in the survey that you play games. What kinds of games do you play? Who do you play with? What is your favorite game and why?
§ Task 3 When was the last time you went to a park? Tell me all about that last visit in as much detail as you can. Where did you go? Who did you go with? What did you do?
§ Task 3 Could you describe your most memorable camping trip? Maybe something funny, unexpected or challenging happened. Start by telling me when and where you were camping and who you were with.
§ Task 4 I’d like to give you a situation and ask you to act it out. You receive a call from a family member asking that you help her prepare for a big party. Call the family member and leave a message asking three or four questions to find out everything you can about the party.
§ Task 4 I’m sorry. There’s a problem you need to resolve. You’ve just learned that you will have to work on the day of the big party. Call your relative and leave a message explaining the problem. Then offer two or three suggestions on how you might still be able to help with the preparations, even though you won’t be able to go.
F. Hobbies & Interests
§ Task 1 You indicated in the survey that you watch TV or DVDs. Tell me about the TV shows or movies you like to watch. What are they about? When do you watch them? What do you like most about them?
§ Task 1 You indicated in the survey that you have a pet. Tell me all about your pet. What kind of pet is it? What does it look like? Give me as many details as possible.
§ Task 2 You indicated in the survey that you like music. What kind of music do you like, and when do you usually listen to it. Give as many details as you can.
§ Task 2 You indicated in the survey that you chat on the phone. Tell me about chatting on the phone. Who do you talk with? What kinds of things do you talk about? How often and for how long do you talk? Tell me all the details.
§ Task 3 You indicated in the survey that you like reading. Tell me about how you first became interested in reading. How old were you, and which books have affected you?
§ Task 3 Tell me about a singing experience that you’ve had. Maybe a time when you sang or performed in front of other people, and something funny, embarrassing or unexpected happened. Tell me all the details of that experience and why it is so memorable.
§ Task 4 I’d like to give you a situation and ask you to act it out. Imagine you want to take dance lessons. Call a dance school and ask three or four questions about dance classes.
§ Task 4 I’m sorry. There’s a problem which you need to resolve. During the first dance class, you fall and hurt your leg. Call the doctor, explain what happened, describe the injury and give the doctor two or three reasons why you need to see him/her as soon as possible.
G. Sports & Activities
§ Task 1 You indicated in the survey that you watch professional sports. Tell me about the sports teams and players you like to watch most.
§ Task 1 You indicated in your survey that you play soccer. Tell me about your favorite soccer player. What does he/she look like? How does he or she play soccer? Why do you like watching him/her play soccer?

H. Travel & Vacation
§ Task 1 You indicated in the survey that you travel for business domestically. Tell me about one city you visited on a business trip. Describe that city for me.

§ Task 2 When people discuss traveling to other countries, what are the things that they’re most interested in doing or seeing? Why are these things of such interest or importance to travelers?

§ Task 4 I’m sorry. There’s a problem which you need to resolve. You booked a non-refundable airline ticket. However, something has happened that prevents you from traveling next week. Call the travel agent and explained what has happened. Offer two or three options to resolve the problem.
