가창오리는 우리나라 겨울철 월동하는 대표적인 새이다.

전세계적으로 95% 이상이 우리나라에 월동하는 새로, 번식지에서는 단독생활을 하지만 월동지에서는 독특하게 대규모 무리를 형성한다. 

금강의 경우 일반적으로는 월동지로 내려오는 12월과 올라가는 2월에  머무르는 경우가 많으나 날씨에 따라 이동 양상은 변화한다. 약 45만 마리 이상의  군무를 보자. 

새만금 지역에서는  올해 만경강하구에서 약 2만마리 정도의  적은 무리가 2022년 12월 중에  잠시 머물렀다. 

The Baikal Teal is a representative wintering bird in Korea. More than 95% of the world overwinter in Korea. It lives alone in the breeding grounds, but forms uniquely large flocks in the wintering grounds. In the case of Geumgang, most visits come in December and February when they come down to the wintering site, but in some cases it is affected by the weather. Enjoy the movement and group dance of more than 450,000 animals.
