I
Cows do nothing wrong
Yet they get beat.
Cows carry heavy loads
Yet they face defeat.
Cows listen well
Yet they meet cruelty.
When I see a cow getting hurt
I almost cry.
Even if it's not our cow
Tears fill my eye.
II
On the way home
From school one day
Honam kicks cow dung
As we play
He says it's like a soccer ball
And kicks it high
I laugh along
And give it a try
When Honam kicks, I kick it back too
And when Honam laughs, I laugh with him true
Hahaha, we laugh, in the golden light
Hohoho, we laugh, with all our might
Appreciation Review 感想
I made an attempt to blend empathy and playfulness through the juxtaposition.
The first evokes compassion for cows, highlights their unjust suffering, and fosters sorrow and empathy in the reader.
The second moves to a playful tone, describing a whimsical moment between the narrator and a friend, Honam.
When they kick cow dung, they pretend it’s a soccer ball.
This poem teaches children about kindness towards animals while celebrating the simple joys of play and friendship.
