Dear all,

As you may be aware UKBA have recently changed the conditions for T4 visa extensions and the issue of new T4 visas.

All students MUST now submit evidence of English language proficiency. This means that any student who is not in possession of a certificate from one of the UKBA approved awarding bodies, must obtain one by taking a test before they can extend their visa.

LSBF is working very closely with PTE - the Pearson Test of English, which is one of the UKBA approved providers. PTE has proved to be the quickest at providing results and is willing to ensure that there is capacity for all LSBF students. Nevertheless students are urged to sign up as soon as they possibly can as places are filling fast! The dates currently available are:

13, 14, 17 and 19th May (other dates will be added, please check their website)

Student needs to register directly with Pearson and schedule their exam online via their website: www.pearsonpte.com/register. The cost of the exam is £120 and it takes place at Pearson Professional Centre in various UK locations.

Student will receive their scores within 2-3 days which they’ll need to send to their Adviser immediately. We will not be accepting PDF certificates.

I have attached some simple registration guidance for students. The UKBA required scores are 43 for a B1 and 59 for a B2.

We are in the process of becoming Pearson’s official professional centre so students will be able to take the PTE exam here from probably June, you will be informed. In addition, subject to demand LSBF School of English will be offering short preparation courses to help build confidence in the test. Even if their English is very good students may well benefit from a practice session on what the PTE test involves.
