✈️제353특수작전비행단은 미국 공군 특수작전사령부 소속 작전부대로, 일본 가데나 공군기지에 주둔하고 있다. 이 비행단의 전신은 1944년에 창설된 제3공군특공대였다. 이 부대는 1944년 필리핀에 주둔한 제5공군에 배속되어 노스 아메리칸 P-51 머스탱, 더글러스 C-47 스카이트레인, 스틴슨 L-5 센티넬 항공기를 운용했다. 필리핀 내 일본군 비행장과 시설을 공격하고, 루손섬의 지상군을 지원했으며, 대만과 중국 해안으로 향하는 작전을 호위했다. 또한 대만의 비행장과 철도를 습격하고 호송대를 엄호했다. 이 밖에도 병력 수송, 지상군과 게릴라 부대에 보급품 투하, 최전선 활주로 부상자 후송, 포격 지원, 그리고 전령 및 우편 수송 임무를 수행했다. 이 비행단의 두 번째 전신은 1967년부터 1970년까지 동남아시아, 특히 호치민 루트에 대한 전자 감시 활동을 수행했던 제553정찰비행단이다. 두 부대는 1985년에 비행단이라는 명칭으로 통합되었다. 1989년에는 통합된 부대가 제353특수작전비행단으로 재창설되었고, 1992년에는 제353특수작전단으로, 그리고 2021년 7월에는 다시 제353특수작전비행단으로 명칭이 변경되었다.
