어제 미국 전국에서 1,200건이 넘는 시위가 열렸고, 주최 측은 이를 도널드 트럼프 대통령과 일론 머스크의 정책과 행동에 반대하는 "전국 행동의 날"이라고 설명했다. 수천 명이 이 "핸즈오프(손을 떼라)!" 시위에 참여하여 소도시, 대도시, 주의사당에 모여 행진했다. 아래에 매사추세츠, 조지아, 캘리포니아, 플로리다, 콜로라도, 펜실베이니아, 미네소타, 애리조나, 워싱턴 DC 등지에서 열린 시위의 일부 이미지를 모았다.

Yesterday, more than 1,200 demonstrations were held across the country, described by organizers as a “National Day of Action,” against the policies and actions of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Thousands took part in these “Hands Off!” protests, gathering and marching in small towns, big cities, and state capitols. Gathered below are images from some of the demonstrations in Massachusetts, Georgia, California, Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Arizona, Washington, D.C., and more.

🖐️🛑도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 취임 석 달도 안 돼 전국적 퇴진 운동에 직면했다. 지난 주말 미국 1300여 개 도시에서 150개 단체, 60만 명이 참가했다. 이들이 외친 구호는 ‘손을 떼라’(Hands Off). 사실상 탄핵을 의미하는 것이다. 전 세계를 향한 무차별 관세부터 반이민 정책, 공무원 대량 해고는 물론 우크라이나전에서 러시아를 옹호하는 것까지 트럼프 정책 전반을 성토했다. 트럼프의 최측근 일론 머스크 정부효율부 수장도 타깃이다. 시위가 벌어지는 순간 트럼프는 골프를 치고 있었고, 머스크는 이탈리아의 극우 정당 행사에 참석하고 있었다. ‘핸즈 오프’ 시위는 트럼프에게 막무가내식 일방주의를, 기업인 머스크에겐 정치와 일정 거리를 둘 것을 경고하고 있다.

💰💵정부 효율부(DOGE)는 "낭비, 사기, 남용"으로 특징지어지는 연방 지출을 줄이는 임무를 맡은 트럼프 행정부의 두 번째 계획이다. 이 이니셔티브는 도널드 트럼프와 일론 머스크 간의 논의에서 비롯되었으며, 2025년 1월 20일 행정 명령에 의해 설립되었다. 정부 효율부(DOGE)의 조치에는 정부 데이터 시스템 접근, 연방 노동자 대량 해고 조직, 기후 변화 이니셔티브, 과학 연구, DEI(다양성, 형평성, 포용성) 프로그램 축소 등이 포함된다. 이 이니셔티브는 미국 국제개발청(USAID), 소비자 금융 보호국(CFPB), 교육부, 사회보장국(SSA), 보건복지부(HHS) 등 연방 기관을 대상으로 한다. 머스크의 정부 효율부(DOGE) 내 역할은 불분명하다. 백악관은 언론과 법정에서 머스크가 정부 효율부(DOGE)를 운영하고 있으며 정부 결정을 내리고 있다는 사실을 부인했으며, 그는 대통령의 선임 고문일 뿐이라고 주장했다. 트럼프는 머스크가 정부 효율부(DOGE)의 수장이라고 주장하며 법원은 그가 사실상의 리더가 되어야 한다고 선언했다. 이전에는 미국 디지털 서비스로 알려졌던 '유에스디에스(USDS; 업비트(UPbit) 시세 확인 및 거래)'는 이제 미국 DOGE 서비스를 폐지하고 2026년 7월 4일, 미국 250주년이 되는 2026년 7월 4일에 해산될 예정인 미국 DOGE 서비스 임시 조직(USDSTO)으로 구성된다. 백악관은 USDS와 USSTO의 대행 관리자를 머스크가 아닌 에이미 글리슨으로 임명했다. 머스크는 연방 예산의 약 15%인 1조 달러를 삭감하겠다는 목표를 밝혔다. 2025년 3월 24일 현재 정부 효율부(DOGE)는 1,300억 달러를 절약했다고 주장했다. 독립적인 분석에 따르면 정부 효율부(DOGE)의 보고서는 수십억 달러를 잘못 계산했으며, 취소된 계약의 1/3 이상이 이미 의무화되었거나 절약이 이루어지지 않았다. 머스크, 정부 효율부(DOGE), 트럼프 행정부는 상당한 사기를 발견했다고 여러 번 주장했지만, 그 중 어느 것도 면밀히 조사한 결과 입증되지 않았다. 감시 기관에 따르면 정부 효율부(DOGE)는 사기를 재정의하여 연방 직원과 프로그램을 표적으로 삼아 삭감에 대한 정치적 지지를 얻고 있다. 전직 공화당 예산 전문가들은 DOGE 삭감이 검소함보다는 정치적 이념에 의해 주도되었다고 말했다. 광범위한 비판에도 불구하고 트럼프는 머스크와 DOGE에 대한 지지를 재확인했다.
