Kh-Me-Reu-Eh Se-Gye : KHMER-WORLD

An Archive of the Khmer and Cambodian Culture

The title of this site is "Kh-Me-Reu-Eh Se-Gye" in Korean language. It might directly be translated into "the world of Khmer" in English. However, the meaning of the word "world" here implies not only geographical one but cultural and spiritual one. For the convenience of use, we call it "Kh-Se" as its short form below.

Kh-Se inaugurated on 20th January 2009 is a kind of non-beneficial cyber-community, in which its members are spontaneously having the activities to collect various information on Cambodia and to understand its culture with affection for Cambodia and respect for copyrights. As a cyber-archive and research community, we are trying to pursue the exact knowledge and the information relating to Cambodia and Khmer culture from the various organizations and the authoritative sources all around world. And we, at the same time, provid the Korean internet-users with the analyzed or translated versions of them in Korean language together with elaborative graphic design, as possible as we can.

Through these activities, Kh-Se hope that the users in the community of the Korean language could avoid a narrow-minded viewpoint on the Khmer culture and its people, and also that they could expand their interest in Cambodian community of the 21st centuriy in terms of the multi-cultural viewpoint.

Even though the history of Kh-Se is not too long, several good members have already joined to it, and the number of page-view also has gradually increased so that Kh-Se forms the basis on which it could be a leading site specialized in the Cambodian culture in the community of Korean language. As of the end of September 2009, Kh-Se has more than 2,000 articles.

Our articles have intensive depth in some level. And, the formation of them includes academic-style article, deep-analyzed news-reports, statistics, and so on. Moreover, for the understanding of fact and reality more directly, we are providing with a number of pictures and multi-media materials. As such, the themes we are dealing with here, are also spread out in wide spectrum as follow:

  - The Khmer Rouge to the Natural Environment

Through this full range of approach in methodology, Kh-Se is philosophically going to pursue two strategic targets: One is to arrive at an objective understanding of the states of affairs relating to the facts through "radical realism", the other is to "construct" the additional or created values by us.

Subsequently, with these activities we hope that on the one hand the community of Korean language would have better understanding on Cambodia culture, and on the other hand the future generation of both Cambodian and Khmer-Korean or Korean-Cambodian would get the more sound environment in Korea, where they can realize their potential self-realization and can communicate together with the same generation of Korea.

However, our host site is located in the most biggest and popular portal site in Korea called as “DAUM Commnucations”. So if somebody who did not register with the company, he or she might be inconvenient to contact to the Kh-Se’s articles. Moreover, the fact that the most of our articles are written in Korean language, also causes some obstacles of reading for foreign visitors. So this English page is made for foreign visitors to understand what our site is.
