CADWorx 2013
frustrates competition at Intel with
extended capabilities and performance reliability
***CW
Deal*** SW & Maint with immediate revenues > Combined value €293.250
The
Intel Ireland campus at Leixlip, Rep. of Ireland, (Intel's largest manufacturing
plant outside of the USA) has purchased 51 licenses of CADWorx Plant
Professional and maintenance in order for Mercury Engineering – one of
Intel’s main contractors – to deliver elements of their “Base Build” and
“Tool Install” Project comprising the manufacturing and installation
of new tools to build the next generation of faster and more powerful
microchips. Intel intends to use the
CADWorx software to deliver intricate small bore pipework and the highly
complex user defined components that are required for clean room
technology. Total accuracy is essential for the hundreds of isometric
drawings required for fabrication, as the pipework will be fabricated off
site due to space limitations and must fit (right the first time) as
in-situ remedial work will be expensive for the contractors. CADWorx will
also be used to deliver HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning)
fabrication drawings.
CADWorx was Mercury Engineering’s preferred solution over
Autodesk Plant 3D. A key element in CADWorx selection was the inclusion of
Alias ISOGENⓒ, the world's leading solution for total automation of piping
isometric drawing production, and particularly our solution’s ability to
handle field weld, which Autodesk’s Plant3D (despite working hard on this
issue) has so far been unable to deliver. Plant3D also exhibited duplicate
isometric drawings, dimensional inconsistencies and had no logical spooling
capability, whilst CADWorx presented no such issues. CADWorx database links
were also important as Mercury Engineering intends to import/export data to
link with their existing procurement tools.
After being an elusive prospect for many years, Intel’s decision to
implement CADWorx 2013 Plant Professional is a significant strategic gain
for Intergraph. The Intel name is well known
and respected globally and will establish CADWorx’ involvement in clean
room design internationally, a field that previously has been dominated by
AutoCAD MEP. Ireland as a region has also been challenging to penetrate,
but Intel Ireland will now provide Intergraph a foothold and a solid
foundation upon which to grow the Irish market, within the extensive
pharmaceutical sector and beyond.
About Intel Ireland
Ireland is Intel’s centre of manufacturing excellence
in Europe and the facilities at the Leixlip
campus produce 300mm wafers on multiple process technologies. The combined
facilities constitute one of Intel's most technologically advanced,
high-volume manufacturing sites in the world. These facilities produce
leading edge silicon products that power platforms and technology
advancements.
Also located on site are the Innovative Open Lab -
home to a research team who facilitate and engage in open research and
innovation opportunities in Europe – and the Product Development
Engineering team which design leading edge test solutions for Intel semiconductor
circuits such as microprocessors, chipsets, consumer and embedded
electronics devices.
