Rejected Takeoff (QRH Rev19)
The captain has the sole responsibility for the decision to reject the takeoff.
The captain must clearly announce “REJECT”
Prior to 80 knots, reject the takeoff for any of the following:
• activation of the master caution system
• system failure(s)
• unusual noise or vibration
• tire failure
• abnormally slow acceleration
• takeoff configuration warning
• fire or fire warning
• engine failure
• predictive windshear warning
• if a side window opens
• if the airplane is unsafe or unable to fly.
Above 80 knots and prior to V1, reject the takeoff for any of the following:
• fire or fire warning
• engine failure
• predictive windshear warning
• if the airplane is unsafe or unable to fly.
Captain First Officer
“REJECT” Without delay: Verify actions as follows:
Simultaneously close the thrust levers, Thrust levers closed.
disengage the autothrottles Autothrottles disengaged.
and apply maximum manual wheel brakes Maximum brakes applied.
or verify operation of RTO autobrake.
Raise SPEED BRAKE lever. “"SPEEDBRAKES UP/NOT UP.”
Apply reverse thrust" "REVERSERS NORMAL.

Continue maximum braking 60 knots.
until stop on the runway. Communicate the reject decision to the
control tower and cabin
Review Brake Cooling Schedule
Not setting the parking brake unless passenger evacuation is necessary
Advising passengers of the need to remain seated or evacuate
Completion of Non-Normal checklist (if appropriate) for conditions which caused the RTO.

- Note airspeed at time of abort (when maximum braking applied).
- Monitor runway distance remaining.
- Notify the tower of the abort and request emergency equipment (if necessary).
