How can we Christians defend the doctrine of the Trinity of God against Judaism and Moslem?

다음의 글은 제가 Emanuel Swedenborg [다양한 발음: 스베덴보르크(독일식), 스위던보르그(미국영어식), 스웨덴볽, 스베덴보리)의 책을 읽은 후 전통적인 삼위일체론의 유일신론을 변증할 수 있는 삼위일체론을 취한 결과물입니다. 저는 전통적인 삼위일체론을 견지할 수 있다고 봅니다. 그리고 유일신론을 동시에 견지할 수 있다고 봅니다. 다음의 글은 그런 의도에서 썼습니다. 

  그리고 저는 이제 제 자신이 하나님 앞에서 그리고 사람 앞에서 사랑과 지혜와 능력의 사람으로 신앙생활하여야 한다고 깊이 인지합니다, 왜냐하면 삼위일체 하나님은 그러한 분이니까요. 이러한 속성론적 삼위일체론 또한 스베덴보르그의 영향이기도 합니다. 그래서 신적 사랑 자체이며 신적 지혜 자체이며 신적 진리자체이시고 신적 선 자체이시며 신적 권능 자체이시고 신적 능력 자체이신 삼위하나님을 따라 사랑과 진리와 선으로 그리스도인으로서 그리고 목사로서 남은 삶을 살고 싶다는 제 소원이 점점 깊어가지만, 과거가 그렇지 않았으며 현재도 그렇지 않다는 사실을 깊이 인식합니다. 그렇지만 삼위하나님의 은혜와 긍휼과 사랑과 진리와 선과 능력에 의존하여 그렇게 살고자 간절히 소원하며 기도합니다.

     Even though God is One Personal God phenomenologically because He is One in Three Divine Substances of Divine Love and Divine Wisdom(Word) and Divine Spirit(Phenomenon), phenomenally on this earthly world the Only One God in Three Divine Substances has appeared as Three Divine Persons to and for Christian human beings  in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit because we Christian man and woman live spiritually, physicall and naturally on this earthly world.

But in the perspective of the Divine-Spiritual-Transcendental God, our Christian God is the Only One Personal God according to the revelation of the Old Testament, though we confess that God is One God of Three Divine Persons as the Holy Father, the Holy Son and the Holy Spirit.

   I think agreeing with the writings and doctrine of Emanuel Swedenborg that there is essentially the Only One Divine Personal God the Lord Jesus Christ in the spiritual and heavenly world beyond this earthly world.

  For Jesus Christ is the Triune but One God Himself in heaven, just as on earth in the same way of the Gospel of John 20's revelation event of the resurrected Jesus Christ our Lord and our God.

  On His earthly life Jesus Christ as the Incarnate Divine Word-God has the Divine Father in Himself and lived and worked by the Holy Spirit of God Himself. So Jesus Christ as the God-Man Revealer and Savior and New Creator spoke and taught and revealed the Divine Truth about Himself as God the Divine One, and manifested all the Divine Word-Love-Light-Life, that is, the Divine Holy Spirit, namely, the Divine Spiritual Works of the Father-Son and God-Man One God.

   Emanuel Swedenborg(1688-1772) compared the Divine Trinity of Divine Soul, Divine Body and Divine Activities with human trinity of human soul and human body and human activities. Therefore,  God is the One Personal God though we Christians confess that there are three Divine Persons but One God as the One Divine Personal Soul-Body-Acitivity of Jesus Christ One Lord and God, in the same way there are three persons but one human personal soul-body-activity as one personal man in one man or one woman.

   We Christians can confess that there is One Only Personal God, namely, the Spiritual Divine-Human God-Man Jesus Christ.  And He is the same Only One God as the Creator-Savior though He has His Incarnate Glorified Human-Divine Body, so called the Son of God on His earthly and physical life because God the Father had the Human Form through the Virgin Birth as the Human Word-God through incarnation by the Divine Activities of His Divine Holy Spirit.

  This can be compared to a human being in three substances of soul, body and activitity of one man or one woman. In the same way Jesus Christ the Only One God is composed of three Divine Substances, that is, the Divine Soul and the Divine Body and the Divine Activity which are phenomenally manifested as the Three Divine Persons for Christian human beings' knowledge and faith and experience and life. The One Personal God, now Jesus Christ  the One Lord-God has Three Divine Persons in the eyes and experiences of Christian faith and life according to the Scriptures phenomenally. But in Phenomenological Reality, essentially and trnanscendentally our Only One Creator God is the Same One Personal Savior-God-Lord Jesus Christ now through His incarnation and resurrection and glorification of God-Man Jesus Christ for the salvation of the world. 

   As if one man have one person but of soul and body and activity (intellect, affection, will, therefore, human words and actions), as if one man or one woman has three human persons (human soul, human body and human activity), our Creator and Savior Jesus Christ is One God but of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, for He is of Divine Soul, Divine Body and Divine Activity. Therefore, we shall know and can recognize and experience that the Only One Personal Creator Jehovah God of heavens and earth was and is and will be the same eternal infinite Jesus Christ our Lord and God, just as one disciple Thomas, who doubted the resurrection of his Master, confessed "my LORD and my GOD" seeing the resurrected Jesus Christ.

  We can agree with the doctrine of Emanuel Swedenborg that God is the Same Eternal Omnipresent Omniscient Omnipotent One Only Personal Jesus Christ our God-Creator-Lord-Savior in the Spiritual Heaven after our physical life, if we Christians do not agree with his teaching on this earthly and natural and physical world.

   If we depart this material and physical world after our physical death, we will experience and know that ontologically, substantially, essentially, spiritually and transcendentally the Lord God is the Only One Divine Person Jesus Christ our Lord and God for He as One is of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

   This doctrine of One Divine Personal God in his Three Divine Soul, Body and Spirit protects Christians who confess that there is One God against Judaism and Moslem which criticize the Christian doctrine of three Divine Persons and Three Gods, even though we Christians assert that there is One God in Three Divine Persons in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

  According to the doctrine of the Triune God in the nature or attributes of God Himself, I think that Swedenborg asserts that God the Father is Love(Omnipresence) itself, the Son of God is Wisdom(Omniscience) itself and the Holy Spirit is Power(Omnipotence) itself, but Love and Wisdom and Power belong to One Personal God. And in other words, God is Divine Good itself, Divine Truth itself, Divine Activity (Good Work) itself, but Divine Good and Divine Truth and Divine Activity are of One Personal God. However, this One Personal God manifests to His creation and salvation for human finite beings in this earthly physical space-time continuum world as Three Divine Persons phenomenally and subsistently, even though He is the Only One Divine Spiritual Infinite Eteranal Unchangeable Personal God of Love and Wisdom and Goodness phemenologically, essentially, substantially and transcendentally.

According to the philosophy of Swedenborg, the Divine Love of God is the Divine esse(Being) and the Divine Wisdom of God, that is the Word of God, is the Divine existere(Existence) and the Divine Activity of God is the Divine Spirit of God, that is, the Holy Spirit of God.

Therefore, all the creation and all the salvation of the world including all human beings were and are and will be the omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent results of the Trinity of Love-Wisdom-Activity of God or of the Trinity of Good-Truth-Use(선용), or of the Trinity of Being-Existence-Phenomenon of God, or of the Father-Son-Spirit of God. According to the reason and rationality of Emanuel Swedenborg, the Being of God's Love (the Divine Father, Good) cannot be existent without the Existence of God's Wisdom (the Divine Son, Truth). The traditional philosophy says that being cannot be existent without form, that is, matter cannot be existent without form. In the same way God Who Is of Himself and in Himself and for Himself cannot be existent without His Divine Form, so God has His Divine-Human Form Spiritually. Therefore, God's Being is existent as Divine Man Himself as regards His Divine Spiritual Form, And all the Divine Activities of God's Being and Existence are of the Holy Spirit of God or the Holy Spirit of the Divine Love-Wisdom or of the Divine Good-Truth manifests the gifts and fruit of God the Father-Son. God the Father-Son-Spirit is One Personal God, however, the Only One God manifest Himself as Three Divine Persons to Christian human beings, but according to the celestial and spiritual experience of Swedenborg the Triune God of Father-Son-Spirit appears as the Only One God who is Jesus Christ our Lord and our God as the Form of Divine- Human Man, for Jesus Christ as the Son of God in whom the Father is and from whom the Holy Spirit proceeds (John 14-17, 20) is the Incarnate and suffering and crucified and resurrected and glorified Triune God Himself for the salvation of human beings.

All the above arguments are for me to defend the doctrine of one God, if there is in the doubt and danger of tritheism because our traditional doctrine of the Triune God says that there are Three Divine Persons and as a result some other religious people (especially of Judaism and of Moslem) can think that the doctrine of Christian Three Divine Persons cannot avoid and mean Three Divine Gods, so idolatrous, even though we Christians assert that there are three Divine Persons but One God.

  The Grace and Peace and Love of the Holy Spirit of God be with you all from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Praise to God the Triune One eternally and infinitely for ever and ever. Amen. Shalom.

위의 글은 Swedenborg의 영향으로 말미암는 삼위일체론이기에 전통적인 삼위일체론자들로부터 이단으로 단정될 수 있을 것입니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이러한 글을 쓰게 되는 것은 아타나시우스 신경의 삼위일체론이 완전할 수 없다는 것입니다. 왜냐하면 어떤 그리스도인이든 어떤 신학자이든 삼위일체론을 완전하게 이해하거나 완전하게 설명할 수 있다고 주장할 수 없기 때문입니다. 예를 들면, 기독교의 삼위일체 유일신론을 유대교나 모슬렘교에 속한 종교인들은 결코 인정하지 않으며, 기독교의 삼위일체론은 삼신론으로서 그들에게는 이단적이며 신성모독적이라는 데서도 찾아볼 수 있습니다. 그리고 전통적인 삼위일체론자들도 최소한 삼위일체론은 인간이 완전하게 이해하거나 설명할 수 없는 신비라고 생각하거나 말하는 데서 알 수 있습니다. 우리는 삼위일체론을 인간의 이성과 경험에 의하여 완전하게 이해할 수 없으며, 이해하는 데까지 이해하고 경험할 수 있는 데까지 경험하지만, 그 이상으로 알 수 없고 이해할 수 없고 경험할 수 없다고 생각하고 말하고 표현하여 왔습니다.

Swedenborg의 책들로 말미암아 New Jerusalem Church가 세계 곳곳에 있으며, 한국에서는 소수 있어, 그러한 새 교회 또는 새 예루살렘 교회에 소속된 사람들은 저의 글이 그들의 사상과 믿음과 일치함을 알 것입니다. 그러나 전통적 교회들에서는 저의 이러한 삼위일체론이 이단으로 규정받을 수 있을 것입니다.

최근에 어느 집사님이 스베덴보리의 위대한 선물이라는 책을 읽어보라고 권하여 그것을 읽은 후 저는 스베덴보리의 책들을 읽고 있습니다. 스베덴보리에 의하면 전통적인 삼위일론의 세 인격(세 신격)의 삼위일체론은 세 인격 (세 신격)의 삼신론이 될 수 밖에 없다는 것입니다. 무엇보다도 그의 유일신론은 그의 영계 체험의 결과입니다. 그래서 그는 삼일성의 한 인격적인 유일신론을 주장합니다. 그의 영적 체험에서 그는 천국에서는 유일하신 한 분 예수 그리스도 외에 다른 신이 없다는 것입니다. 그것도 사람의 모습을 지닌 예수님, 그러므로 하나님은 사람의 모습이다는 것입니다. [그리고 이렇게도 생각할 수 있을 것입니다. 본래적으로 신령으로 계신 하나님은 신적 영적 사람의 모습을 지니고 계셨으며, 그래서 인간을 하나님 자신의 사람 모습대로 육체적 몸과 영적 영적(신령한) 몸으로 창조하시고 구원하신다는 것입니다. 그리고 승천하신 예수님은 영화된 몸과 영화된 인성까지 가지신 창조와 구원과 섭리의 삼위일체 하나님 자신이며 자신 안에 삼위일체로 존재하시고 활동하신다는 것입니다.)

지상에 계실 때도 예수님은 자기를 본 자가 아버지를 보는 자며, 자기 안에 아버지가 있고 아버지가 자기 안에 있으며, 그분의 어떤 말과 활동도 모두 아버지로부터 받은 것임을 말씀하셨습니다 (특히 요한복음에서). 그리고 부활하신 후 예수님은 제자들에게 숨을 내쉬면서 성령을 받으라고 말씀하셨습니다(요한복음 20장). 그리고 부활을 의심했던 제자 도마는 예수님을 “나의 주(여화와), 나의 하나님”(My Lord and my God)이라고 고백했습니다. 신약에서는 더 이상 여호와라는 단어가 사용되지 않으며 여호와는 ‘주, 주님’(Lord, LORD)으로 통일됩니다. 바로 예수님이 주 여호와 하나님이시며, 바로 인간의 몸으로 태어나시고 사시고 활동하시고 십자가에 못박혀 죽으시고 부활하시고 승천하시고 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 지니신 전지 전능 무소부재하시는 한 분 유일하신 하나님이십니다.

그러므로 우리는 이 땅에 사셨던 예수님이 인간의 몸, 사람의 몸을 가지셨지만 본질적으로는 신령한 하나님 자신, 곧 신적-영적으로는 그분이 바로 주 여호와 하나님이셨다는 것입니다. 그러므로 부활의 영화로운 몸을 지니시기 전의 연약한 인간의 몸을 가지시고 이 땅에서 사시고 활동하실 때도 예수 그리스도는 본질적으로는 삼위일체의 하나님의 유일신 자신이셨다는 것입니다. 성경의 많은 서술들은 시공간적인 이 세계에서의 하나님 자신의 계시이셨기 때문에 사람의 눈과 지각과 경험과 이해와 지식으로는 마치 세 신격이 따로 따로 활동하는 것 같아 마치 세 하나님으로 보이고 경험되지만, 실상은 한 분 예수 그리스도 자신이 바로 삼위일체 하나님 자신이셨다는 것입니다. 유한한 인간에게는 그렇게 나타나 보일 수 밖에 없다고 말할 수 있습니다.

아타나시우스 신경 또한 예수 그리스도가 하나님이시면서 사람이시지만 한 신인격의 한 분 예수 그리스도이시다고 고백합니다. 하나의 인간 인격과 또 다른 하나의 하나님의 신격의 두 신인격을 가지신 분이 아니라 하나의 신인격으로서 한 분 예수 그리스도라는 것입니다. 다시 말하면, 예수님은 인간의 인격을 지니신 분이 아니라 비록 인간의 몸을 지니고 있어 인성을 가지고 있었지만, 신적으로 본질적으로 영적으로 예수님은 주 여호와 하나님 자신이시며 바로 창조주로서 인류와 세상의 구원의 주 하나님으로 오셨다는 것입니다.

이 땅의 공생애 기간에도 또 그 이전에도 그리고 그 이후에도 예수 그리스도는 사람의 모습을 지니고 인성을 지니셨지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 그분은 삼위하나님 자신이셨습니다. 그리고 사랑 (선) 자체이신 하나님 아버지를 자신 안에 가지고 계시는 말씀 (진리, 지혜) 하나님으로서 인간의 몸으로 성육신하신 예수 그리스도께서 십자가의 고난과 죽음까지 경험한 후 신적 영적 인간적 부활의 몸으로 영화롭게 되신 후 호흡을 내쉬면서 제자들에게 성령을 받으라고 말씀하셨습니다. 그러므로 성령은 아버지로부터 아들을 통하여 나옵니다. 이것은 아버지와 아들과 성령이 한 분 유일하신 하나님이시다는 것을 보여줍니다. 그래서 세 하나님이 아니며, 하나님을 사람의 모습의 그림으로 묘사한다면, 세 사람의 모습으로 그려지는 세 분의 하나님이 아니라, 한 사람의 모습을 지니신 예수님이 삼위일체 유일신으로 존재하시고 살아계시고 활동하시는 하나님 자신이라는 것입니다.

이제 부활하셔서 영광스럽게 신성화된 인간의 몸까지 지니게 되신 예수 그리스도께서 한 분 유일하신 하나님으로서 삼위로 계시는 삼위일체 하나님이십니다. 그러므로 사복음서들은 본래적으로 삼일성 또는 삼위를 지니신 유일하신 하나님로서 신적 영적으로 전능하시고 무한하신 사랑(아버지로서의 하나님, 하나님의 신적 존재와 신적 본질)과 말씀(성육신되기 전의 하나님의 신적 지혜와 신적 진리로서의 하나님의 신적 실존과 신적 형상)과 능력(하나님의 성령, 하나님의 신적 사랑과 신적 지혜 그리고 신적 선과 신적 진리의 일체적 나타남, 하나님의 신적 존재와 신적 실존과 신적 성품과 신적 능력의 나타남, 하나님의 모든 신적 말씀과 신적 활동과 신적 능력의 유출과 표출과 나옴과 부어짐)의 삼위하나님께서 자신의 성령의 신적 능력으로 마리아에게 잉태되어 인간의 몸을 취하신 후 인간으로 태어나셔서 인간으로 성장하시고 인간의 모습으로 메시야 그리스도 구원의 주 하나님으로 활동하시고, 마침내 인간적 몸으로는 십자가에 못박혀 죽으시고, 그 후 삼위하나님 자신의 신적 능력으로 부활 승천하신 영화로우신 신적-영적-인적 신령한 예수님이 바로 삼위일체로서 유일하신 하나님과 동일하시며 바로 삼위일체 유일신이시다는 것입니다. 지상에서의 예수 그리스도는 인간의 연약한 몸을 지니신 메시야 주 하나님으로 나타나시고 활동하셨지만, 부활 승천 후의 하늘(천국)의 예수님은 영화롭게 된 신령한 인간의 몸을 지니신 신인적 삼위일체 한 분 유일하신 하나님으로 존재하시고 사시고 활동하신다는 것입니다. 그러므로 성경의 하나님의 삼위일체적 언어적 표현들은 유일하신 하나님의 삼일성으로 또는 세 신격으로 서술하지만, 그리스도인들은 성경의 하나님의 삼위일체적 존재와 하나님의 모든 삼위일체적 활동들을 유일신론에 초점을 맞추어 해석하고 이해하고 알고 신앙생활할 수 있다는 것입니다.
