영어수업 성찰_6학년 1단원 4차시_ 아이들의 생활 속에서 살아있는 영어 수업을 위하여

6학년 2개반을 원어민교사와 함께 지도합니다. 늘 고민하는 것은 '아이들이 과목으로서의 영어가 아니라 생활에서 사용하는 영어로 받아들이도록 어떻게 수업할까? '입니다. 요즘 매시간 시작 전에 아이들의 영어에 대한 생각을 알아보기 위해 앙케이트를 1개씩 하고 있는데 첫번째 질문은 " 영어는 나에게 (       )이다."였습니다. (* 참고로 이아이디어는 조경남 수석님에게서 얻었습니다.^^) 예상은 하고 있었지만 3-4명의 아이가 극도의 반감을 가지고 있었습니다. 6학년이니 만큼 영어공부에 대한 부모님의 강요도 심할 가능성이 많지요. 물론 아주 긍정적이고 창의적인 대답도 있었습니다. 저를 행복하게 했지요. 몇가지 예를 들면 영어는 -설탕이다.  LOVE다. 배움이다 ( 이 친구는 시대의 흐름을 아는 것 같아요.^^), 콩자반 한가득이다(긍정인지 부정인지 모르지만 창의적이지요?), 미래이다 등입니다. 어쨋든 우리아이들의 생각은 기민하고 영어와 함께 부대끼며 살고 있다는 것은 확실한 거 같습니다. 그 속에서 희망을 찾아보려합니다.

수업성찰을 원어민과 함께 해봤습니다. 앞으로도 그리할 계획이구요. 그래서 영어로 쓰고 올리게 되었습니다.

Objectivies	Students will be able to speak the ordinal numbers in some situation.

Teacher's Intent	Students need to be introduced to some real situation or instances in which the ordinal numbers can be used.
Strategy	The PPT and story draw some ideas about instances of using the ordinal number from the students.
Introduction	Chant along- To remind of the target expressions
Develolpment	1. Usage of ordinal number in fractions- 1/2( half), 1/4(quater), 2/4, 3/4 -Pizza and Clock PPT -Talking about another instances with the students 2. Story and Dialogue - Guess the story and then listen to the story - Listening comprehension quiz - Pair work to do a small role-play based on the story 3. Kungfu Panda & Mini Mouse's Date -Enjoy the dialogue -Think about other situations in which the target expressions can be used.
Consolidation	Students will come to the teacher and speak the target vocabularies and expressions.
Lesson Reflection	This lesson was focused on using ordinal numbers in real life. At first, I introduced 'Fractions'(분수)with some pictures of sharing pizza on ppt then Darren explained another very common and useful examples such as 'half(1/2)' and 'quarter(1/4)'. At the moment some of students came up with some right instances like " Half seasoned chicken and half fried chicken, please," and the others said "Ahh ha!!" and then another boy "짬짜면!“. I said "That's it!" That was very encouraging responses that I could lead them to learning real life English with. Unfortunately, at that time I could not give them some time to make a small conversation with their partner on their own because of lack of time. What matters at this point is that the teacher is able to make some changes to keep their own learning, while keeping the lesson goal.

다양한 활동을 통해 표현을 익혀볼 수 있지만 실생활에서 쓸 수 있는 것들, 자연스럽게 끌어내는 수업이 된다면 정말 좋을 것 같습니다. 제가 많이 배웠습니다. ^^ 감사합니다.
