잠언9장 말씀.

1. 지혜가 자기 집을 짓고 자기의 일곱 기둥을 깎아 만들며

Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

2. 자기 짐승들을 잡고 자기 포도즙을 섞으며 또 자기 상을 차리고

She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table. 

3. 자기 여종들을 보내었나니 그녀가 도시의 가장 높은 곳들 위에서 외쳐 이르기를,

She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

4. 누구든지 단순한 자는 이리로 돌이키라, 하고 또 명철이 부족한 자에 관하여는 이르기를,

Whoso [is] simple, let him turn in hither: [as for] him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

5. 와서 내 빵을 먹고 내가 섞은 포도즙을 마시며

Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine [which] I have mingled.

6. 어리석음을 버리고 살지어다. 명철의 길로 갈지어다, 하느니라.

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

7. 비웃는 자를 책망하는 자는 자기가 수치를 당하고 사악한 자를 꾸짖는 자는 자기가 흠을

    잡히느니라.

He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked [man getteth] himself a blot.

8. 비웃는 자를 책망하지 말라. 그가 너를 미워할까 염려하노라. 지혜로운 자를 꾸짖으라.

    그가 너를 사랑하리라.

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

9. 지혜로운 자에게 훈계를 주라. 그러면 그가 더욱 지혜롭게 되리라. 의로운 자를 가르치라.

    그러면 그의 학식이 더하리라.

Give [instruction] to a wise [man], and he will be yet wiser: teach a just [man], and he will increase in learning.

10. {주}를 두려워하는 것이 지혜의 시작이요, 거룩한 것들을 아는 것이 명철이니

The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy [is] understanding.

11. 나로 말미암아 네 날들이 많게 되며 네 삶의 햇수가 늘어나리라.

For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

12. 네가 만일 지혜로우면 너 자신을 위해 지혜로울 것이로되 네가 만일 조롱하면 너 홀로

      그것을 담당하리라.

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but [if] thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear [it].

13. 어리석은 여자는 시끄럽고 단순해서 아무것도 알지 못하나니

A foolish woman [is] clamorous: [she is] simple, and knoweth nothing.

14. 그녀는 자기 집 문에 앉고 도시의 높은 곳들에 있는 자리에 앉아서

For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

15. 자기 길을 바르게 가는 행인들을 불러 말하되,

To call passengers who go right on their ways:

16. 누구든지 단순한 자는 이리로 돌이키라, 하고 또 명철이 부족한 자에 관하여는 이르기를,

Whoso [is] simple, let him turn in hither: and [as for] him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

17. 도둑질한 물이 달고 은밀히 먹는 빵이 맛이 있다, 하느니라.

Stolen waters are sweet, and bread [eaten] in secret is pleasant. 

18. 그러나 그는 죽은 자들이 거기 있는 것과 그녀의 객들이 지옥의 깊음들 속에 있는 것을 알지

      못하느니라.

But he knoweth not that the dead [are] there; [and that] her guests [are] in the depths of hell.
