Following their previous success stories such as Karan Arjun and Kaho Na Pyar Hai, Filmkraft Productions emerges again on the screen along with its latest venture titled Koi Mil Gaya. The big budget movie is being directed by Rakesh Roshan and features the likes of Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta and Rekha in the lead roles. Various songs from the movie have already been airing on the small screen and the catchy tracks and visuals have built up curiosity amongst the audience. Rajesh Roshan has composed the soundtrack, alongside lyricists Ibrahim Ashq, Nasir Faraaz and Dev Kohli.
1- En Panchiyon (Shaan, Kavita and Baby Sneha)
The soundtrack begins well with En Panchiyon, which is rendered by Shaan, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Baby Sneha. The track starts with a melodious tune and a nice chorus, followed by the soft and impressive vocals of Shaan. Kavita also delivers her voice smoothly whilst baby Sneha impresses with her supporting vocals. The Background chorus, which continues throughout the song, is soothing to the ears. The Violin, jhankaar and drumming stick out. Nasir Faraz pens effective lyrics. The composition by Rajesh Roshan is soft and easy on ears. Overall, this is a pleasant track for the listener.
Rating: 6/10
2- Haila Haila (Udit and Alka)
The second song is Haila Haila, which is a duet featuring Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. Unfortunately Udit does not seem too comfortable and only delivers average vocals. Alka also follows the colleague's standards and showcases her voice ordinarily. Amongst the instruments - piano, dholki and dhol stick out nicely and are complimented by a somewhat pleasant background chorus. Renowned lyricist Dev Kohli writes completely routine lyrics for the song and Rajesh Roshan doesn't show any flare this time around. This is below average stuff.
Rating: 3/10
3- Idhar Chala (Udit and Alka)
Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik team up again for the catchy number Idhar Chala Main Udhar Chala. This song is the best one from this album. Soft rhythmical and pleasant music pushes up the song in a perfect manner. Udit catches the rhythm remarkably well and is perfectly matched by Alka Yagnik. The background chorus provides an ample support to the vocalists too. Ibrahim Ashq, whose poetry has been sung by the ghazal maestros Jagjit Singh and Pankaj Udhas in the past, pens creative lyrics that completely personify the melodious mood of the song. Rajesh Roshan uses his brilliancy and experience widely in the composition. His composed music is active all the way and provides joys to the ears. The song is currently being played on all usual music channels and the visuals of the number feature Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta in the lead. The choreography and direction are first-rate. Overall the song easily grows on ears and is a soothing treat as well.
Rating: 9/10
4- Instrumental
The next track is an instrumental composition. This is an example of well-composed music wrapped with perfection in all departments by Rajesh Roshan.
Rating: 7/10
5- It's Magic (Taz)
It's Magic features Taz (Stereo Nation) as the lead vocalist. The song starts with a bang, although the energetic music is let down by Taz's rather average vocals. The singer disappoints completely with a poor style of vocals, which he must improve in order to survive in a big industry. Ibrahim Ashq does not lift the spirits with his lyrics, which are below average. The background chorus does not appeal at all and the composition by Rajesh Roshan does not shake the blood either. Overall it is a below average song from all aspects. And it could be rated as the weakest song of the album.
Rating: 2/10
6- Jadoo Jadoo (Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik)
Udit Narayan joins Alka Yagnik for a melodious number, Jadoo Jadoo. His voice is very catchy and sweet, whilst Alka registers a marvelous impact through her vocals too. The background chorus seems tender to hear. Amongst the instruments, dholki, shehnai, sticking, flute and drumming stick out. Ibrahim Ashq paints magnificent and creative lyrics. Rajesh Roshan portrays his rich experience and skills by composing a sweet audible music here. Overall the song lasts long on ears and is effective all the way.
Rating: 8/10
7- Jadoo Jadoo (Adnan Sami and Alka Yagnik)
The second version of Jadoo Jadoo features the likes of Adnan Sami and Alka Yagnik as the main singers of the track. The soft and catchy music in the beginning impresses. The excellent composer-singer Adnan Sami (who is the first to compose Indian classic music on the piano in the world) catches the breath of the listeners with his echoing manly voice, which spread real jadoo (magic) all around. The colleague singer Alka Yagnik provides full support through her sweet impressive vocals. Ibrahim Ashq wins the hearts with his creative and philosophical lyrics. Background chorus is simply well sung. Music is stupendous. It's an overall Rajesh Roshan's song, which completely represents his class. The song reminds us the yesteryear's Kishore Kumar song "Udte Udte Pyaase Panchi" composed and penned by Rajesh Roshan. A number of people do not know the poetic quality of the composer yet. Rajesh writes occasionally but whenever he uses his pen, simply creates wonders. As is the case with "Udte Udte".
Rating: 8/10
8- Koi Mil Gaya (Udit Narayan and Chitra)
The title track, Koi Mil Gaya wraps up the album. The duo of Udit Narayan and Chitra sing their respective parts with utmost ease. The song begins with a chorus, which is just okay followed by a soft piece of music, which truly excels. Udit presents his class brilliantly whereas Chitra (who is today's hot singer after showcasing her renditions for Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon) portrays her sharp and catchy vocals, which enter straight in the heart. The number is romantic and melodious and instantly catches the attention of the listeners. Ibrahim Ashq's lyrics are simply well written. Whilst Rajesh Roshan scores brilliant music. The visuals of the song stars Hrithik and Preity in the lead. The direction and the locales (full of natural scenes) are impressive whereas the choreography proves its supremacy too. Overall the track stays with the listeners for a longer period of time.
Rating: 7/10
Some of Koi Mil Gaya's tracks could bag awards in coming future. The soundtrack is a rhythmical treat and deserves repeated hearings.
