周易上編(주역 상편). 11.地天泰(지천태).䷊ ......3         ☰ ☱ ☲ ☳ ☴ ☵ ☶ ☷     ▣ 初九拔茅茹以其彙征吉         초구  발모여  이기휘 정 길       [풀이]        [초9]는 띠풀을 뽑을 때에 뿌리가 모여 있는 무리 통채로 뽑아야 하듯 정벌에 나서면 길할 것이다.       [해설]        泰(태)의 시절은 여러 동지(백성)들과 같이 밖으로 나가야 뜻이 더 크고 기쁨이 더 커진다.        만약 큰 기쁨을 자기 일신과 일가에만 두면, 천하에 두루 미쳐야 할 태통이 되지 못한다.        그러니 [초9]가 선봉에 서서 2, 3과 더불어 그 기쁨을 같이 나누면서,        泰(태)의 시절로 이끌어 가야 하는 막중한 책임을 진다.        고로 [초9]는 많은 동지들과 함께 적극적으로 활동하는 좋은 시기로 봐야 할 것이다.        [초9]의 얽혀 있는 띠풀을 뽑으면[拔茅茹,발모여] 2와 3도 같은 뿌리라 함께 뽑혀 나오니[以其彙,이기휘],        그들과 같이 나란히 뜻을 같이 해 나간다면[征,정], 태통을 누려 더물어 길한 것이다[吉,길].        이런 泰(태)의 시절에는 어진 충신들[彙,휘]을 모아 나라를 돕고 또 세상을 도와야 한다.        그러기에 공자도      "얽힌 띠풀을 뽑아 나란히 뜻을 같이해 나감은 그 뜻이 안에 있는 것이 아니라 더 넓고 큰 외부에 있기 때문이다        [象曰拔茅征吉志在外也, 상왈 발모정길 지재외야]"라고 주석하고 있는 것이다.        다산은 그 외부는 敵國(적국)을 넓히는 데 있으며, 또 띠풀을 뽑는 것은 어진 이를 천거하는 일이라 한다.         정자도 "어진 이는 동지들과 함께 도를 행하기에,        군자가 자리를 얻으면 천하의 어진 이들이 조종에 모여 천하를 泰盛(태성)할 것이며,        소인이 자리하면 불초한 자들이 천하를 否塞(비색)하게 하니,        어찌 강건한 덕을 지닌 자가 그 몸을 아랫자리에만 두겠느냐"며, 이것이 [초9]가 띠풀을 함께 뽑는 이유라 밝혔다.        泰卦(태괘)가 地風升卦(지풍승괘)로 간 경우다.    I Ching(Book of Changes) Upper Volume.      11.地天泰(지천태).䷊ ......3     11. Ji Cheon Tae / Hexagram 11 : Tai-Peace-3.         ▣ First Nine[初九,초구] : Pulling up cogon grass brings up the entire cluster of roots;             going forth(taking action) brings good fortune.          [Explanation]              First Nine[初九,초구] Just as pulling up cogon grass brings up the entire interwined               root system together, setting out to govern or go on an expedition[with like-minded people]               will bring good fortune.          [Commentary]            During the era of Tai (泰,태 - Peace/Prosperity), one's will grows larger and joy increases            when stepping outward together with many comrades(and people).            If great joy is kept only to oneself or one's own family,            it cannot become the grand harmony(Taitong) that ought to reach all under heaven.            Therefore, [初九,초구] stands at the forefront, sharing that joy with the second and their lines,             bearing the heavy responsibility of leading into the era of Tai (泰,태).             Thus, [初九,초구]  should be viewed as an auspicious time to act dynamically together             with many comredes.             When you pull up the intertwined cogon grass of [初九,초구] [拔茅茹,발모여],             line 2 and line 3 are pulled up together because they share the same root system [以其彙,이기휘].             If you align your goals alongside them and move forward [征,정],               you will enjoy great peace and share in good fortune [吉,길].              In such an era if Tai (泰,태), one must gather wise and loyal subjects [彙,휘] to aid the country             and help the world.             For this reason, Confucius also annotated :           "The reason for pulling up intertwined grass and advancing together with shared goals is that             the grand purpose lies not within, but in a broader and larger world outside             [象曰拔茅征吉志在外也, 상왈 발모정길 지재외야]."             Dasan(Jeong Yak-yong) explained that "the outside" means expanding the territory              expanding the territory of the nation,              and pulling up cogon grass represents recommending virtuous people.             Jeong Ja(Cheng Yi) stated that because virtuous people practice the Way together             with like-minded comrades, when a virtuous person(Junzi) gains a position,              wiseindividuals from all over the world gather at court to make the realm flourish(Taisheng).              Conversely, when a petty person gains power, worthless individuals corrupt the world(Bise).              He asked, "How could a person with strong virtue keep themselves confined to a lower               position?" and revealed this as the reason why [初九,초구] pulls up the grass together.              This is the case where the Tai hexagram (泰卦,태괘) transforms into the Jipung Seung              Hexagram(地風升卦,지풍승괘).
