이 부분은 19세기 미국 시인 사상가인 Ralph Waldo Emerson가 쓴 글의 일부입니다. 어떤 목사가 설교를 하는데 실제 삶에 아주 무미건조하게 해서 재미없었다는 얘기 입니다. He는 재미없게 설교하는 목사입니다.

we were none the wiser for it 은 우리가 거기에서 (인생에 대해 혹은 삶에 대해) 배운것이 없다는 말인것 같습니다.

Knowing no more than before 뜻이란건 상기님도 말씀하셨고... about what 이 문젠데. 목사가 설교를 하는 목적이 자기 자신을 알리기 위해서일까요? ^^ 그리고 참고로... 'knowing a person'뜻의 표현을 하면서 wise라는 단어는 쓰지 않습니다. I'm a wise person은 말이 되지만 I'm wise about him은 틀린 표현입니다.
