If I talk incoherently, losing my focus, you may become bored.
"What the hell is the Master doing?"
I must go home to have a meal and wash the dishes.
"Why is he giving useless talks?"
You may be getting angrier if so.
You may rapidly leave this site if I keep on rambling on.
"Now, lets think for a moment; what makes you so upset?
Is it because of my incoherent speech and the irrevelance of having a meal?"
The very cause of your anger is this kind of thinking.
This thinking is what raises the waves of the silent mind.
Originally, your mind is silent because the mind is no-mind.
However; as soon as thinking arises, you begin to suffer.
But, if you remember that your mind is no-mind in nature, the thinking will subside as soon as it occurs.
This is how we can use this concept differently.
For instance, you can listen attentively although you may not understand what the Master is saying by thinking that someday I'll be able to comprehend it.
You will become silent again by employing your mind like this.
You become silent by abiding to your true nature.
Thus, this silent mind is called Buddha.
The reason why the Patriarch (Zen Masters) asks us to perceive this no-mind is because this no-mind is the very nature of ourselves. We can thereby use our minds (no-mind in nature) towards happiness.
I'm not quite sure whether the empty mind is Buddha-hood or not. But, according to Mubul, the empty mind is the very Buddha in nature becasue Buddha is the name of the empty mind rather than the substance of the empty mind. Joining Palms together ()
첫댓글 Is this empty mind called Buddha-hood?

Thank you so much for your kindness.
It seems very radical view.Normally, Buddha is the one that perceives the empty and removes deep-rooted habits.Thank you.()
