Housewife seeks help for bedridden husband

JITRA: A housewife in Kampung Kandis, Kodiang, here, is seeking public donation to help her bedridden husband whose body is fully paralysed after a car crash in Pendang two years ago.

Rohana Ariffin, 46, said she had been borrowing money from her neighbours over the past few months as she had ran out of funds to buy the special milk, disposable diapers and medicines needed by her husband.

"A can of that milk costs RM78 and lasts only three days...the monthly allowance of RM300 that I receive from the JKM (Social Welfare Department) is far from sufficient to cover the average monthly expenses of RM1,000 that I need to make ends meet for myself, my husband and our two schooling children," she told reporters at her house Sunday.

She said her son, Iskandar Zulqurnain, who is a third former at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tunku Bendahara, had been washing cars to find extra money for the family and to purchase school necessities for himself and his sister, Natasha, 11.
