Mott, John R. (1865-1955)

Biography: Missions and Ecumenical Statesman

Mott was born in Livingston Manor, New York. Raised in Postville, Iowa, in a pious Methodist home, he graduated from Cornell University in 1888 with a bachelor of philosophy degree and later received honorary degrees from Yale, Edinburgh, Princeton, Brown, Toronto, and other universities. While a Cornell undergraduate, he passed from agnosticism to faith through an evangelical conversion. Shortly thereafter, at Dwight L. Moody's summer conference at Mount Hermon, Massachusetts, he was among the first hundred to sign the Student Volunteer Movement (SVM) declaration "It is my purpose, if God permit, to become a foreign missionary."

It was as Methodist layman, student leader, and international church statesman that Mott was to fulfill that commitment. While an undergraduate he built the Cornell University Christian Association into the largest and most active YMCA chapter on American campuses and served as its president. A one-year assignment upon graduation as traveling secretary with the intercollegiate YMCA stretched into 44 years of service as it student secretary (1888-1915) and general secretary (1915-1931). His charisma, evangelical fervor, and call for the "evangelization of the world in this generation" at successive SVM conferences resulted in enlistment of over 20,000 missionary volunteers by 1951.

Believing that Christian students could be the lever to move the world toward God, Mott led in the formation of the World's Student Christian Federation in 1895, becoming its general secretary (1895-1920) and its chairman (1920-1928). His world travels on behalf of the YMCA, the SVM and the WSCF (a total of 1.7 million miles) stimulated the formation of national cooperating bodies, as well as the first ecumenical links between Orthodox and Protestant Christians and reconciliation between Christians of nations that had been at war.

As one of the founders of the Foreign Missions Conference of North America (1893), Mott led the planning for the World Missionary Conference at Edinburgh in 1910, served as its chairman, and headed its continuation committee. In 1912 and 1913 he circled the globe to stimulate the formation of national associations of students, youth, and churches and to conduct mass evangelistic crusades in China and India. He was instrumental in 1914 in establishing the Missionary Research Library in New York City. In 1921 he teamed with J. H. Oldham to form the International Missionary Council (IMC), with Mott as chairman (1928-1946). Through the IMC he promoted global cooperation in missions and developed a pattern of representative leadership from churches of East and West, North and South, that became normative for the ecumenical movement.

Mott can rightly be called the father of the World Council of Churches (WCC) having been a leader in each of the movements that led to its formation. He played a large part in the first world conferences on Faith and Order (Lausanne, 1927; Edinburgh, 1938), and in those of the Life and Work movement (Stockholm, 1925; Oxford, 1937). Having chaired the provisional committee of the WCC, he was named its honorary president at the inaugural assembly at Amsterdam in 1948.

Mott saw the value of international Christian witness concerning issues of world peace and justice. Under his leadership, both the IMC and the YMCA engaged creatively in many partnerships with governments. The American YMCA?¿½s National War Work Council under his chairmanship enlisted 20,000 men and women for relief work and service to soldiers and prisoners in 1915. He received the American Distinguished Service award for serving on President Woodrow Wilson?¿½s peace commissions to Mexico and Russia in 1916 and 1917, honors from more than twenty countries, and the Nobel Peace Prize (1946). He is buried in the (Episcopal) Cathedral Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Washington, D.C.

Archbishop of Canterbury Fisher put an effort into the task of revising the Church of England's canon law. The canons of 1603 were at that time still in force, despite being largely out of date. He presided at the marriage of HRH The Princess Elizabeth and later at her coronation in 1953 making her Queen Elizabeth II. The event was carried on television for the first time. (The previous coronation, in 1937, had been filmed for newsreel.) He is remembered for his visit to Pope John XXIII in 1960, the first meeting between an Archbishop of Canterbury and a Pope since the Reformation and an ecumenical milestone.

Fisher was a committed Freemason^[1] Many Church of England Bishops of his day were also members of Freemasonry. Fisher served as Grand Chaplain in the United Grand Lodge of England.

Above all, the battle is a spiritual one. Unfortunately, the Christian churches have become little more than social clubs run by the infinitely evil World Council of Churches (WCC), whose beginnings lie not in Moscow but in the City of London, as we see from the chart at the end of the book which gives the structure of the One World Government Church. This body was set up in the 1920's to serve as a vehicle for One World Government policies, and stands as a monument to the long-range planning capabilities of the Committee of 300.

 Another corrupt body similar in structure and design to the WCC is the Union of Concerned Scientists, set up by the Trilateral Commission, and funded by the Carnegie Endowment Fund, the Ford Foundation and Aspen Institute. This is the group that has led the fight to prevent the United States from mounting an effective deterrent against Soviet Cosmospheres, space-based laser beam weapons which can destroy selected targets in the United States or elsewhere from outer space. The United States SDI program was designed to counter the threat posed by Soviet Cosmospheres, a threat which still exists in spite of the assurances that "communism is dead." Soviet spokesman Georgi Arbatov told a meeting of the Union of Concerned Scientists that it is important for them to oppose the SDI program, because if the SDI program became operational, "it will be a military catastrophe." Year after year the Union of Concerned Scientists has opposed every budget which included funding for the vital SDI program, until by the end of 1991, there is not even enough money to fund further research still required let alone place the system in orbit. The Union of Concerned Scientists is run by the Royal Institute for International Affairs and is heavily infiltrated with M16 British intelligence agents.

위 자료들은 WCC ( 세계 교회 협의회 )가 프리메이슨의 조종을 받는 단체임을 확인시켜 준다. 이런 객관적 자료들 보다 더 확신시키는 것은 그것이 로마 카톨릭의 에큐메니즘과 똑같은 방향성을 갖고 있으며 종교 연합적 에큐메니즘을 실현하기 위하여 타종교간 대화와 유엔의 뉴에이지적 활동에 매우 적극적이라는 점이다. 로마 카톨릭은 기독교의 교리를 점점 심하게 변개하고 있으며, 프리메이슨 조직과 화합하여 한몸이 되어가고 있다.

록펠러 가문은 막강한 재력을 바탕으로 프리메이슨 조직들의 대부로서 존재하여 왔다. 프리메이슨 단체인 스컬 앤 본 ( SKULL AND BONE ), CFR ( 외교 위원회 ), 빌더버그 ( BILLERBURG ), 삼변회 ( TRILATERAL COMMISSION )등을 후원하고 있으며 오늘날 유엔이 태동하는데 자신의 부지를 헌사하는 등 막후적으로 상당한 역할을 하였다. 유엔은 프리메이슨의 뉴에이지 정신을  바탕으로 점점 세계를 관할하는 세력이 강해져가고 있다. 그것은  프리메이슨의 목표인 신세계 질서를 실현하는 교두보라 할 수 있다. 이 목표를 달성하기 위해서는 종교도 통합하여 세계에 하나의 종교를 구축하는 것이 반드시 필요하다. 이에 자신의 종교적 NGO들과 WCC와 로마 카톨릭이 연대하여 에큐메니즘을 확산시키고 있다.

존 모트는 이런 록펠러라는 프리메이슨 가문의 지원과 후원을 받으며 YMCA의 총재로서 그리고 세계 교회  협의회의 창설자로 왕성한 활동을 펼치며, 그 공으로 노벨상까지 수상하게 된다. 미국의 유명한 이단 연구 단체인 SEEKGOD는 그를 프리메이슨으로 단정하고 있다.

WCC의 역대 총장 중 영국 성공회 대주교 지오프리 피셔와 미국 감리교단 소속 브롬리 오낙스는 분명히 고위급 프리메이슨으로서 확인되었다.  특히 브롬리 오낙스는 같은 프리메이슨 고위급인 빌리 그래햄의 친구로서 알려져 있다. 프리메이슨은 사탄을 숭배하는 이교로 비판받고 있으며, 그들의 중심 사상은 뉴에이지와 종교 다원주의이다. 그런 프리메이슨들이 세계의 복음주의의 교회들의 대표 기구로 자처하고 있는 세계 교회 협의회의 총장으로서 봉직하였다니 놀라울 따름이다. 영국 고위 정보국에서 활동한 경력을 갖고 있는 존 쿨만 박사는 다량의 프리메이슨 연구 서적을 세상에 내놓았는데, 그는 WCC가 프리메이슨 조직 300 위원회의 하부 조직이라고 밝히고 있다.

우리 교계는 이런 사실을 알고도 모른 척 하고 있는 것일까 ? 혹시 모르는 것은 아닐까 ? 게시자는 궁금하고 안타깝기만 하다.

신뢰성이 별로 느껴지지 않는 글들로 하시니.... 웃음만 나옵니다. 이러다가 한국의 큰 교회목회자들, 성령사역자들.. 전부 프리메이슨으로 매도할실 분위기인데요. 이런 방법은 지난 좌파 10년동안 개신교를 욕보인 좌파적인 사고를 가지신 분들이 주로하던 방법인데요.. 특히 대표적 친노신문이었던 서프라이즈니... 뭐니 이런데 게시판글을 퍼오신 것 같네요.. 님의 글들은 지난날 미국산 소고기로 전 국민이 광우병걸려 죽을 것이라는 인터넷 소동과 다를바가 없습니다. 하나님이 살아계십니다. 성경은 사단의 세력이 성장하면 반대로 하나님은 성령의 사람들을 일으키셔서 대항시키시는 것을 가르쳐 주십니다.

님은 성경에 기록된 배도에 대하여 전혀 분별하려는 의지는 없군요. 객관적 자료들을 콧방귀끼며 무시하는 님의 교만한 태도에 놀랍니다. 경계의 목소리가 있으면 들을 줄 아는 귀도 필요합니다. 님이 이 자료가 무시해도 된다는 객관적 반증을 제시해보시기 바랍니다. 님은 말하시는 투는 자신의 말이 즉 객관적인 판정자인양 이야기 하십니다. " 우리의 씨름은 혈과 육에 대한 것이 아니요 정세와 권세와 이 어두움의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악한 영들에 대함이라" (엡 6 : 12 )

에베소서의 말씀으로 답변을 잘하셨네요... 악한 영을 대적하게 하시는 분은 바로 성령입니다 하지만 님의 글은 대부분의 성령의 일도 프리메이슨으로 모는 것이죠.. 객관적인 자료 라구요? 제눈엔 그저 여러 짜집기로만 보입니다. 그렇게 보이는 건 두려움에 사로잡혀 자유함이 없는 님의 눈일 뿐입니다.

Wcc나 NCCk는 분명 잘못되었습니다. 그리고 조심해야 합니다. 하지만 저분이 올린 글처럼 이들과 상관이 없는 모든 성령의 은사와 역사를 이들과 연관시키는 것은 경계해야 한다는 의미입니다. WCC는 선교를 포기한 단체이지만 선교에 앞장서는 다른 성령의 역사도 이들처럼 매도하시면 안됩니다.
