신(神, God)이 강(江, river)을 이룰 때 이쪽과 저쪽을 가르지 아니하였고 신이 사람을 만들 때 높고 낮음을 정하지 아니하였거늘,(When God formed the river, he did not separate this side from the other side, but he did not define high and low when he made men,)

우리는 어찌하여 강(江, river)의 이쪽과 저쪽을 갈라서 있고 없고를 따지며 사람의 높고 낮음을 정하여 위치와 거리를 두는지요. (How do we separate the river from the other side and the other side of the river and separate the high and low of the people so that they can distance themselves from each other.)

스스로 그늘을 만들지 않는 한 어디에도 햇살은 다녀가고 스스로 가치를 낮추지 않는 한 우리는 누구나 만물의 영장입니 다.(As long as you don't make your own shade, the sun goes anywhere and you don't lower your value, we're the warrant of all things.)

강 저쪽에서 바라봐도 찬란(燦爛ㆍ粲爛, brilliant)한 노을은 언제나 아름답 고 출렁이는 은빛 물결에,(From the other side of the river, the glorious sunset is always beautiful and on the rolling waves of silver,)

오늘도 더없이 행복한 마음 살다가 살다 가 어느 날 천국(天國, heaven)의 문이 열리는 날,(After living a happy life today, one day the door of heaven opens,)

우리는 주머니 없는 하얀 옷을 입고 누구나 빈손으로 그곳으로 가지요.(We wear white clothes without pockets and everyone goes there empty-handed.)

알지 못하는 것도 아니고 깨닫지 못하는 것도 아니건만 늘 망각(忘却, oblivion) 의 동물이 되어 욕심(慾心, greed)만 쌓이고 쌓여 갑니다.(Whether you don't know it or you don't realize it, you always become an animal of oblivion, and you only build up your desire and build it up.)

가졌다 하여 여섯 끼를 먹을 수 있으며 높다고 하여 한 평 넘게 누울 수 있을까 요.(You can eat six meals just because you have it, and you can lie down for more than one pyeong because it's high.)

비록 가진 것 없어도 비록 높은 곳 아니 어도 오늘도 맑고 고요한 하루,(Even if you don't have anything, even if it's not high, you have a clear and still day today,)

또 하루에 당신과 나의 한 해가 늘 행복 했으면 좋겠습니다.(Also, I hope you and I will always be happy every day.)
