[(ABC 3-1)듣기& 영한 통역] CHECKOUT AISLE SINGER: SINGING IN THE AISLES
DIANE SAWYER (ABC NEWS)(OC): Finally tonight, proof that all the world really can be a stage, if you [1]have a hopeful heart and a great country song. Tonight, that stage is [2]the checkout aisle of a Walmart in West Virginia. And the song belongs to a girl who never expected us to stop and listen. Here's ABC's Steve Osunsami.
STEVE OSUNSAMI (ABC NEWS)(VO): She's proof that there's [3]big talent in small places. 21-year-old Kayla Slone was [4]toiling away in the checkout lane at this Walmart in West Virginia, when [5]a customer noticed her singing a tune, and then [6]pulled out an iPhone to [7]record the magic. [8]Little did she know [9]the video would catch fire on the internet.
STEVE OSUNSAMI (ABC NEWS)(VO): This is [10]coal-mining country. Her husband's [11]a coal miner, her grandfather, too. And today she told us [12]she's had big dreams for years, but [13]never thought there's any chance they could come true.
KAYLA SLONE (WALMART EMPLOYEE): I never even thought that it would make it that far. I honestly thought that you know, people would see me and enjoy it, but as far as it making it that far, I never even dreamed. I'm hoping to be on the Grand Ole Opry.
STEVE OSUNSAMI (ABC NEWS)(VO): When she was 15, [14]she and her brother cobbled together what little they had to record [15]this homemade album that no one heard. But now [16]she's a hit, at least in the mountains and certainly at [17]the Walmart she calls her second home.
KAYLA SLONE (WALMART EMPLOYEE): I've actually had [18]people come through my line and they're like, "[19]can I have your autograph?" Or, "will you sing me a song," and I just start singing. Reba?
EMPLOYEE (WALMART): Reba.
STEVE OSUNSAMI (ABC NEWS)(VO): [20]She now sings at her register, in [21]the break room and underneath [22]the Valentine's Day balloons that are for sale. She says she'll never give up, no matter how small the stage. Steve Osunsami, ABC News, Atlanta.
[(ABC 3-2) 듣기& 영한 통역] PERSON OF THE WEEK: NIGELLA LAWSON
DIANE SAWYER (ABC NEWS)(OC): And finally tonight, our "Person of the Week" is [23]a reigning superstar of great food and living as you choose. Nigella Lawson is an author, cook, [24]glamorous sensation. And you may have seen her lately on the new ABC food contest called "The Taste."
DIANE SAWYER (ABC NEWS)(VO): But before you meet her, take a look at [25]the promotional picture for the show. Can you guess what she told [26]the anxious publicity people they must never [27]airbrush out?
NIGELLA LAWSON (AUTHOR OF NIGELLISSIMA): [28]I could see slight twitching of a Los Angeles eyebrow or two, [29]not that any eyebrows can move in Los Angeles but nevertheless, I could see that they felt there was [30]slight swelling over the tummy area where a tummy was. And I could see that [31]they were desperate to go - like that and I said, please, please promise me you don't airbrush that out because that is my tummy because [32]you can't eat and like food and have no flesh to show for it.
DIANE SAWYER (ABC NEWS)(VO): She is [33]the reigning queen of food for pleasure, [34]sensual eating, [35]a surprise from the girl who grew up the daughter of England's Chancellor of the Exchequer, like [36]the secretary of treasurer here. It was her beautiful mother who taught her not to [37]use recipes. And she says [38]confidence comes from simply being what you are.
NIGELLA LAWSON (AUTHOR OF NIGELLISSIMA): Confidence is maybe always so overvalued. Competence, I feel that [39]competence is very undervalued virtue, but actually [40]unless you're truly competent, any confidence is false. So I think [41]it's the notion that I can provide for my own existence and [42]I think that arms you.
DIANE SAWYER (ABC NEWS)(VO): And [43]it was cooking that would console her in crisis. Her mother died at the age of 48. Then her sister died at the age of 31. And then, as [44]her husband lay dying, too, she created [45]a cookbook of food that got her through the day.
NIGELLA LAWSON (AUTHOR OF NIGELLISSIMA): When John, my first husband, was very ill, I wrote a book called "How to be a Domestic Goddess." I think [46]that was very therapeutic for me. There's something so extraordinary about eggs, sugar, flour, butter, becoming a cake. And maybe that's what I needed then.
DIANE SAWYER (ABC NEWS)(VO): Today, she is remarried, [47]releasing her ninth cookbook called "Nigellissima." And here's Nigella's advice for a great Valentine's Day. [48]Take a whole pan of spaghetti in the pan off the stove, take the pan to bed and eat it with two forks.
NIGELLA LAWSON (AUTHOR OF NIGELLISSIMA): It's quick and it's - [49]the sound it makes, as you swirl that creamy egg sauce with that salted bacon, for me, it's pretty unbeatable.
NIGELLA LAWSON (AUTHOR OF NIGELLISSIMA): So excited.
DIANE SAWYER (ABC NEWS)(VO): And most of all, she says, remember [50]when you're cooking, you are cooking for what makes you feel most alive. What is it for her?
NIGELLA LAWSON (AUTHOR OF NIGELLISSIMA): For sure, and it's not going to be [51]anything lofty and it involves a chicken. I always, if I've been away, I get in the door, take my coat off, wash my hands, and put a chicken in the oven. Until the house is filled with the scent of a roasting chicken, I'm not absolutely sure I'm home.
