Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. 

You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors.

Let it do its work /so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.

If you don’t know [what you’re doing], pray to the Father.

He loves to help.

You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to /when you ask for it.

Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought.

Don’t think () you’re going to get anything from the Master /that way, adrift at sea,

When down-and-outers get a break, cheer! 

And when the arrogant rich are brought down to size, cheer! 

Prosperity is as short-lived as a wildflower, so don’t ever count on it. 

You know that as soon as the sun rises, pouring down its scorching heat, the flower withers. 

* down and out ... beaten in the struggle of life; completely without resources or means of livelihood.

the flower 그 꽃은 withers 시든다는 것을. 

Its petals wilt and, before you know it, that beautiful face is a barren stem. 

Well, that’s a picture of the “prosperous life.” 

At the very moment () everyone is looking on in admiration, 

it fades away to nothing.

[Anyone //who meets a testing challenge /head-on and manages to stick it out] is mighty fortunate.

For such persons /loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life.

Don’t let [anyone under pressure to give in to evil] [say], “God is trying to trip me up.” 

God is impervious to evil, and puts evil /in no one’s way. 

The temptation to give in to evil comes from us and only us.

The temptation 유혹은 to give in to evil 악에게 굴복하라는 comes 온다 from us and only us 우리와 단지 우리에게서. 

We have no one to blame but the leering, seducing flare-up of our own lust. 

Lust gets pregnant, and has a baby: sin! 

Sin grows up to adulthood, and becomes a real killer.

So, my very dear friends, don’t get thrown /off course .

Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven.

The gifts are rivers of light /cascading down from the Father of Light.

There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle.

He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures.

There is 없다 nothing 아무것도 deceitful 기만적인 in God 하나님 안에,

nothing 아무것도 two-faced 가식적인, nothing 아무것도 fickle 돌변하는.

He 그분께서 brought 가져/데려가셨다 us 우리를 to life 삶/생명으로

using 사용하시면서 the true Word 진리의 말씀을,

showing 보여 주시면서/자랑하시면서 us off 우리를

as the crown 면류관/영광으로 of all his creatures 그분의 모든 피조물의.

Act on What You Hear 들은 대로 행하라

19-21 
Post this /at all the intersections, dear friends: 

Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear. 

God’s righteousness doesn’t grow /from human anger. 

So throw all spoiled virtue and cancerous evil /in the garbage. 

In simple humility, 

let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life.

Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener

/when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other.

Act on what you hear!

[Those //who hear and don’t act] are like those //who glance in the mirror, walk away,

and two minutes later have no idea //who they are, what they look like.

and two minutes later 2분 후에/신속하게도 have no idea 먼 얘기/소린지 모르는 그들 //who they are 그들 자신이 누군지,

what they look like 어찌 생겨 먹었는지.

But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it,

 is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. 

That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.

 [Anyone //who sets himself up as “religious” by talking a good game] is self-deceived.

This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air.

Real religion, the kind //that passes muster before God the Father, is this:

Reach out /to the homeless and loveless in their plight,

and guard against corruption from the godless world.

Reach out 도움의 손 내밀며 /to the homeless 노숙자들에게

and loveless 사랑 못 받는 자들 in their plight 고통 중에 있는,

and guard 경비/경계하는 against corruption 부패에 대항하여 from the godless world 무신/불신의 세상에서 오는.

       야고보가 얘기하는 순식간에 시들 들꽃은 아니지만 물 주고 가꾸는 집의 화단 꽃도 시들기는 마찬가지

       시든 백합 꽃송이들과 싱싱하나 며칠 내 시들 상층 백합 (전부 8송이였었음)

       날 좀 우러러봐라 낡은 꽃들아, 나 멋있지? 날 좀 봐라 젊은 꽃아, 우린 추하지? 수일 내로 너도 나처럼 될 거야!

9-11 Prosperity is as short-lived as a wildflower, so don’t ever count on it. 

You know that as soon as the sun rises, pouring down its scorching heat, the flower withers. 

10-11

부한 자는 자기의 낮아짐을 자랑할지니 이는 그가 풀의 꽃과 같이 지나감이라   
해가 돋고 뜨거운 바람이 불어 풀을 말리면 꽃이 떨어져 그 모양의 아름다움이 없어지나니

부한 자도 그 행하는 일에 이와 같이 쇠잔하리라 

물질 축복만 떠벌리는 뻥쟁이 말꾼들, 이처럼 시든, 시들어 가는, 시들 꽃을 보시고 야고보처럼 참 말하면 그게 참 복

       시들기 전의 백합은 다들 싱싱-백합이라 우열을 가를 수 없고 단지 위-아래/상류-하류만 구별된다

       한 줄기 상부에 무더기로 8개가 달린 건 우리 꽃밭의 백합 생애 6년 만에 처음임

       다른 해는 꽃들이 서로 거리를 두고 위아래로 나왔었음

                                                                 마지막 꽃 봉오리

                                                                        마지막 잎새

                                                               Gone with the wind

        여왕 백합이 가고 없으니 섭섭하시다면 아래는 공주 백합

         공주 백합이라 함은 여왕처럼 장대하지 않고 자그마한 키에 홍조 띤 모습 때문임

       공주 백합 발치에 놓인 하얀 꽃잎은 여왕 백합의 떨어져 시든 꽃잎
