UMC High School is looking for OCT certified teachers starting December 2019 (2019-2020 academic year) for our elementary and middle school division for grades 6-8.
We are interviewing for teachers who are able to teach Mathematics, Science, Music, AND Geography to join our elementary/middle school teaching team.
Duties include:
- Teaching in an engaging and inclusive manner to international students
- Planning and developing curriculum and assessments according to Growing Success
- Using ELL accommodations in the classroom to support international students
- Utilizing experiential learning to develop student learning and knowledge
- Developing daily lesson plans, unit plans, and assessments
- Timely submission of lesson plans, unit plans, and assessments, for administrative review
- Classroom management
- Revising of existing materials
- Maintaining organized subject binders (both physical and digital)
- Marking student work in a timely manner
- Reporting student attendance and achievement in a timely manner to all supervising department heads and administrators
- Maintaining organized student records and files
Hiring Criteria:
- Preferably applicants with teaching experience within Ontario and familiarity with the Ontario Ministry of Education's curricula
- Preferably applicants with experience teaching in an international school
- MUST be an OCT Qualified teacher OR hold a relevant Bachelors/MA/PhD
- Preferably applicants with experience working with English Language Learners (ELLs)
- MUST have references provided in the resume attached
- Preferably applicants with experience with Growing Success
- Preferably applicants with 1-2 years of classroom teaching experience (private school or international school preferred)
- MUST already reside within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and be able to work in North York
