첫번째 선물 - 존경심(尊敬心, First gift - Respect)

존경심(尊敬心, respect)은 숭고(崇高, sublimity)한 마음의 작용으로 사람을 도에서 벗어나지 않게 하며,(Respect is the work of a sublime mind that keeps a man out of the way,)

올바른 길을 걷게 만든다. 누구나 인생( 人生, life)에서 그 사람만이 할수있는 역할(役割, role)을 가지고 태어난다.(It makes you walk the right path. Everyone is born with a role that only he or she can play in life.)

그러므로 자신도, 다른 사람도 매우 소중(所重, precious)한 존재(存在, existence)라는 것을 깨닫게 해 주자. (So let us realize that we and others are very precious beings.)

두번째 선물 - 인내심(忍耐心)(The second gift - patienc)

인간의 욕망(慾望, desire)은 끝이 없다. 욕망(慾望, desire)을 억제(抑制, contain)하는 법을 모르는 사람은 작은 실패(失敗, failure)에도 쉽게 좌절(挫折, frustration)하게
마련이다.(Human desire knows no bounds. Those who do not know how to suppress their desires are easily frustrated by even small failures.)

자녀에게 자기 중심적인 생각을 버리고 자신을 억제(抑制, contain)하는 법을 가르쳐라.(Teach your children to let go of their self-centered thoughts and keep themselves in check.)

세번째 선물 - 사랑(Third gift - love)

사랑하는 마음을 진솔(眞率, sincere) 하게 전해 주는 것이 자녀 교육의 기본 이다.(It is the basis of children's education to sincerely convey their love.)

부모가 따뜻한 사랑을 충분히 주고
부모 자식간의 신뢰 관계가 확고하다면 자녀 교육의 절반은 성공한 것이다.(If parents give enough warm love and trust between parents and children is strong, half of children's education is successful.)

네번째 선물 - 의욕(意欲·意慾 ) Fourth gift. - Motivation

자녀가 스스로 하고 싶다는 생각이 들도록 분위기를 연출하자.(Let's create an atmosphere so that your children feel like they want to do it on their own.)

부모 스스로 즐겁게 하고 있는 모습을 보여 줌으로써 자녀에게도 스스로 하고 자 하는 마음을 불러
일으키라.(Encourage your children to do it themselves by showing themselves enjoying themselves.)

다섯번째 선물 - 개성(個性)(The 5th gift. - Personality)

아이들은 모두 잘 갈고 닦으면 빛을 내는 보석(寶石, jewel)과 같다. 그 아이 만의 좋은 개성은 부모만이 잘 살릴 수 있다.(A doctor said that children are like jewels that shine if they are all sharpened and cleaned. Only parents can make good use of their own good personality.)

자녀의 개성을 이해하고 그 개성을 살릴 수 있는 환경(環境, environment)을 만들어 주자.(Let's create an environment where we can understand our children's individuality and make use of them.)

여섯번째 선물 - 배움(6th gift - Learning)

어릴 때부터 자신의 인생관을 갖도록 조언(助言, advice)해 주자.(Let's advise them to have their own view of life from an early age.)

높은 이상은 배움에서부터 시작된다는 것을 이해시키고 새로운 것을 알아 가고,(You understand that high ideals begin with learning, and you learn new things,)

도전(挑戰, challenge)하는 것에 신선(新鮮, fresh)한 즐거움을 느낄수 있도록 이끌어 주라.(Lead us to feel fresh joy in challenging.)

일곱번째 선물 - 꿈(Seventh gift - Dream)

자녀의 눈높이에서 세상을 바라보라.
자녀를 있는 그대로 인정하고 무슨 일이든 열심히 한다면 칭찬(稱贊, compliment)해 주자.(Look at the world from your child's eyes. Let's acknowledge your children as they are and praise them if they work hard at anything.)
