내가 소리내어 여호와께 부르짖으며

I cry aloud to the LORD

소리내어 여호와께 간구하는도다

I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy.

내가 내 원통함을 그 앞에 토하며

I pour out my complaint before him

내 우환을 그 앞에 진술하는도다

I tell my trouble.

내 심령이 속에서 상할 때에도 주께서 내 길을 아셨나이다

When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who know my way.

나의 행하는 길에 저희가 나를 잡으려고 올무를 숨겼나이다

In the path where I walk men have hidden a snare for me.

내 우편을 살펴보소서 나를 아는 자도 없고 피난처도 없고

Look to my right and see; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge;

내 영혼을 돌아보는 자도 없나이다

주는 나의 피난처시요 생존 세계에서 나의 분깃이라 하였나이다

"You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."

나의 부르짖음을 들으소서 나는 심히 비천하니이다

Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need

나를 핍박하는 자에게서 건지소서 저희는 나보다 강하니이다

rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me.

내 영혼을 옥에서 이끌어 내사 주의 이름을 감사케 하소서

Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name.

주께서 나를 후대하시리니 의인이 나를 두르리이다.

Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me.

하늘의 문이 열리는 곳 Where the Gate of Heaven be Opened

창세기 28:17

이에 두려워하여 가로되 두렵도다 이곳이여 다른 것이 아니라 이는 하나님의 전이요 이는 하늘의 문이로다 하고

He was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven."

얼마 전 집을 좀 줄여 이사했습니다. 이 집이 마지막 집이 될까? 워낙 생활이 벌려진 것이 많다보니 이제 혹 정리가 되게 해 주실까 생각을 해 보았습니다. 야곱이 형 에서의 낯을 피해 외삼촌 라반의 집을 향해 가듯이 우리들도 다 어딘가를 향해 가고 있습니다. 그러나 야곱이 그러했듯이 그 종착지에 가면 무엇이 보장 되어 있을지 우리도 역시 모릅니다. 그저 가면서 새로운 상황이 닥치면 또 수정하면서 갈 것으로 생각하고 있을 따름입니다.

대개 우리가 목표로 바라보는 곳은 무언가가 성취된 상황일 것입니다. 그런데 우습게도 바라는 모든 것이 다 이루어진 상태가 되면 이미 나이가 너무 먹어버린 자신을 발견하게 될 것입니다. 무언가를 우리가 미리 깨닫고 발견하지 못하고 그저 주어진 상황 속에서 밀려가다가 이제 모든 것이 다 이루었다고 하는 순간 자신의 삶은 더 이상 남아 있지 않게 됩니다. 이것은 거의 대부분의 사람들이 겪고 있는 상황입니다.

우리의 목표는 대부분의 사람들이 살면서 바라보는 것들과 그리 다르지 않을 수 있습니다. 경제적 안정, 건강, 가정의 평안, 등등입니다. 그리고 신앙 안에서의 목표는 우리가 잘 인식하지 못할 수도 있지만 언약들에 근거합니다. 그러므로 언약이 우리에게 어떤 의미로 주어져 있는 지를 살펴 볼 필요가 있습니다. 과연 이 시대를 살아가는 기독자들에게 언약은 무엇일까요? 어떤 의미가 있을까요?

언약은 성취 된다는 사실을 전제로 합니다. 아파트가 팔릴 것을 기대하고 기도도 하던 분에게 그것이 팔렸다면 이를 두고 언약이 성취되었다고 할 수 있을까요? 그것은 그분에게나 우리들에게 매우 절박하고 요긴한 일들이겠지만 언약의 성취를 대입하기에는 마땅치 않다고 여길 것입니다. 그것들은 그저 우리의 생활의 필요들이고 어쩌면 구하기 전에 주신다고 하신 것들에 해당할 것입니다.

언약이라고 하면 하나님과 인생들 사이에 이루어진 것인데 역사적으로는 아담, 노아, 아브라함, 다윗이 언약을 받은 선진들이었습니다. 물론 이삭과 야곱, 솔로몬 등은 그 아비나 할아버지에게 주셨던 언약을 재확인 받기도 합니다. 이러한 역사적 언약들은 모두 예수 그리스도에게로 집중되며 결국 예수께서 말씀하신 새언약으로 귀결됩니다. 그러므로 우리가 고려해야 할 언약은 예수 그리스도의 새 언약에 대한 바른 이해, 즉 이 시대에 적용되는 이해입니다.

야곱이 꿈에 본 하늘까지 닿은 사다리를 두고 예수께서는 이를 인자, 곧 그리스도라고 적용하십니다. 그러면 이 시대에 누구라도 어떤 이를 두고 그가 인자라고 깨달으면 그것이 새 언약인가 생각할 수 있습니다. 그러나 야곱은 결코 누군가를 두고 그가 사다리라고 이해하지 않았습니다. 오히려 자신에게 적용된 하나님의 임재하심을 깨달았던 것입니다. 그리고 그 현재성을 두고 “두렵도다 이곳이여”라고 한 것입니다. 영어에서는 “놀랍도다 이곳이여”라고 하였습니다.

자신이 처한 여하한 어떤 상황이라도 불구하고 내가 있는 이 곳이 곧 하나님의 전이요, 하늘의 문임을 깨달은 것입니다. 그것은 오직 주께서 내게 임하셔서 나와 함께 하신다는 연합의 이해로만 설명될 수 있습니다. 언약은 과일처럼 껍질을 벗겨야 먹을 수 있게 되어 있습니다. 표면적으로는 죄사함과 구원의 약속이지만 내면은 주의 임재와 연합, 동행의 의미가 곧 새 언약입니다.

I moved a little smaller the other day. Will this be the last house? Since there are so many things that have opened up, I thought they would let me organize it. Just as Jacob goes toward his uncle Laban's house to avoid his brother's face, we are all heading somewhere. But as Jacob did, we don't know what will be guaranteed when we get to that end. I'm just thinking that if there's a new situation on the way, I'll go again while revising it.

Usually, where we look at the goal, it's a situation where something has been achieved. But interestingly, when all your wishes come true, you'll find yourself already too old. The moment we realize something in advance and don't discover it, we're just pushed away in a given situation, and now everything has been achieved, our life is no longer left. This is a situation that most people are going through.

Our goals may not be very different from what most people see in their lives. Economic stability, health, family peace, and so on. And the goal within the faith is based on the covenant, which we may not recognize very well. So we need to look at what the covenant means to us. What is the covenant for Christians living in this times? What does it mean?

The covenant presupposes the fact that it is fulfilled. If it was sold to someone who was praying for the apartment to be sold, would it be said that the covenant was fulfilled? It may be very urgent and important for him and us, but it is not appropriate to substitute the fulfillment of the covenant. They're just the needs of our lives and maybe the things the Lord said He'd give us before you ask for it.

The covenant was made between God and people, and historically, Adam, Noah, Abraham, and David were the ancestors who received the covenant. Of course, Isaac, Jacob, Solomon, and others are reconfirmed with the covenant given to their father or grandfather. All of these historical covenants are focused on Jesus Christ and eventually result in the new covenant that Jesus spoke of. So the covenant that we have to consider is the right understanding of the new covenant of Jesus Christ, the understanding that applies in this time.

With the ladder that reached heaven that Jacob saw in his dream, Jesus applies it as the Son of Man, Christ. Then anyone in this time can think about a person and if he realizes that he is the Son of Man, is that the New Covenant. But Jacob never understood someone as the ladder. Rather, he realized the existence of God applied to himself. And the presentness of that is said "How awesome is this place!"

In spite of any situation we are in, we realize that this place where we are is the temple of God and the gate of heaven. It can only be explained by the Unification's understanding that the LORD is with me. The covenant is made to be eaten only when the skin is peeled like a fruit. On the surface, it is a promise of atonement and salvation, but on the inside, the meaning of the Lord's presence, unification, and companionship is the new covenant.
