The Counselor, The Holy Spirit of Truth
Jesus said in Jn 14:16-17, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever the Spirit of truth.”. And in verse 26 he said, “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you.”
As seen in the words above, Jesus said that he will send ‘another Counselor’. Why did he say ‘another Counselor’? In 1Jn 2:1 it says, Jesus is the one who speaks in our defense, our Counselor. Jesus, who is our Counselor, leaves, and that is why Jesus said he will send another counselor in his (Jesus’) name (Jn 16:7). Also, he is called the Spirit of Truth, and because God’s word is truth (Jn 17:17), it shows that he is the Holy Spirit who brings the word.
God, who said He will come riding on a swift cloud (Is 19:1), came as a spirit to Jesus at the time of the first coming and was with him. In the same way, the Spirit of Truth, the Counselor, comes and lives inside a person (Jn 14:16-17). As a result, the spirit and flesh become one and speaks the word on behalf, like Jesus. That person is called the Counselor because he also plays the role of the Counselor. The meaning of Counselor is a ‘teacher who protects through grace’.
At the time of the first coming, Jesus came in the Father’s name (Jn 5:43), and he came as the light (Jn 12:46). God was in Jesus and Jesus was in God (Jn 14:10-11), and the words Jesus spoke were the Father’s words he spoke on His behalf (Jn 14:24). Hence, Jesus was the Counselor, the messenger who speaks God’s words on His behalf (1Jn 2:1).
In this way, at the time of the second coming, the ‘other Counselor,’ who comes in Jesus’ name, is also in a person, and the person who speaks on behalf is in the Spirit of Truth who comes in Jesus’ name. Also, Jesus, who comes back, returns in the spirit to work (Lk 17:22-30). And Jesus said that we will be in Jesus and Jesus will be in us (Jn 14:20).
To the question Peter asked at the time of the first coming, Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”, and, “will inherit eternal life” (Mt 19:27-30).
The prophecies of Jesus’ birth and appearance in places like Is 7, 9, Mi 5, and Zec 9 of the Old Testament were fulfilled according to prophecy at the time of the first coming. At the time, the pastors of Jerusalem had no knowledge of the Bible and were ignorant, and so did not believe in Jesus and opposed him. How are things today? Just like Is 29, in Rv 5 God’s book is sealed, and no one in heaven or on earth can open it or see (inside) it. At this time, Jesus takes the book, takes off all its seals, opens it, and feeds it to the one who is promised. And the one who is promised sees all the work Jesus fulfilled, chapter by chapter, in the book of Revelation. Just as, “I saw, I heard,” is recorded in each chapter of Revelation, he sees and hears the events of all the chapters. That is why this person is the only one who can testify the entire book of Revelation.
Just as the promises recorded in the Old Testament Bible were all fulfilled according to prophecy, the New Testament is also all fulfilled according to prophecy. The one who sees this prophecy and its fulfilled realities and testifies is the promised pastor. Just because the people of the world persecute him doesn’t mean he’s not the promised pastor. This is according to the words of Mt 5:8-12.
God’s word of promise is the food of eternal life (Ref. Am 8:11, Jn 6:27). Jesus is the Word that came as flesh (Jn 1:14), he is the Word at the beginning (1Jn 1:1-2), and that is why Jesus’ blood and flesh are Jesus’ words (Jn 6:51-68). Because there is life in this word (Jn 1:1-4), those who eat this word live forever.
The seed of this word of life grew and became a large tree and its branches yielded fruit. So as this tree is the tree of life that grew from the seed of life, this tree is Jesus, who is the true vine (Jn 14:6, 15:1), and its fruits are the fruit of the true vine.
Even if the New Testament is all fulfilled according to prophecy (Rv 21:6) like how the Old Testament was all fulfilled (Jn 19:30) according to prophecy, there are those who don’t believe (Rv 21:8). What can they say even if they are thrown into the fires of hell? There are those, on the other hand, who believe in the fulfillment of the prophecies and risks their lives to work with the Lord even in the midst of suffering. They will be taken to the paradise of heaven to be amongst God’s glory. Wouldn’t this be their prize for believing and working? They are Shincheonji, the priests of a new kingdom and new people of the 12 tribes. Should this prize be given to those who reject it, or should it be given to those who want it? (Ref. Mt 16:27, Rv 2:23, 22:11-12) This prize will be given to those who are born of Jesus’ blood and God’s seed. Amen.
