On July 23, 2022, Shine City Project returned to the Doolittle Community Center! Our goal for this morning was to help distribute food for individuals and families with The Just One Project! However, upon arrival, it was learned that the service project would be delayed. The truck that was transporting all the pallets of food had broke down and had not arrived yet. We would have to wait before anything could be accomplished.
After patiently waiting for more than an hour, the food truck finally arrived! Our nine Shine City Project volunteers got straight to work helping to unload and unpack the cases of food. By this time, there weren't so many cars who were in line, but there were still cars that trickled in as we were handing out food. Our volunteers passed out multiple cases of food to each vehicle which consisted of gallons of milk, cartons of eggs, canned goods, bunches of grapes, and packages of instant nonfat dry milk! In the end, despite our slow start, we were able to distribute all of our cases of food in record time!
