Who Will Contend With God?(Job 9 : 1 ~ 16)

Then Job answered and said: “Truly I know that it is so: But how can a man be in the right before God? If one wished to contend with him, one could not answer him once in a thousand times. He is wise in heart and mighty in strength―who has hardened himself against him, and succeed?―he who removes mountains, and they know it not, when he overturns them in his anger, who shakes the earth out of its place, and its pillars tremble, who commands the sun, and it does not rise; who seals up the stars; who alone stretched out the heavens and trampled the waves of the sea; who made the Bear and Orion, the Pleides and the chambers of the south; who does great things beyond searching out, and marvelous things beyond number. Behold, he passes by me, and I see him not; he moves on, but I do not perceive him. Behold, he snatches away; who can turn him back? Who will say to him, ‘What are you doing?’ ”God will not turn back his anger; beneath him bowed the helpers of Rahab. How then can I answer him, choosing my words with him? Though I am in the right, I cannot answer him; I must appeal for mercy to my accuser. If I summoned him and he answered me, I would not believe that he was listening to my voice.

욥이 대답하여 이르되 진실로 내가 이 일이 그런 줄을 알거니와 인생이 어찌 하나님 앞에 의로우랴 사람이 하나님께 변론하기를 좋아할지라도 천 마디에 한 마디도 대답하지 못 하리라 그는 마음이 지혜로우시고 힘이 강하시니 그를 거슬러 스스로 완악하게 행하고도 형통할 자가 누구이랴 스가 진노하심으로 산ㄷ을 무너뜨리시며 옮기실지라도 신이 깨닫지 못하며 그가 땅을 그 자리에 움직이시니 그 기둥이 흔들리로다 그가 해를 명령하여 뜨지 못하게 하시며 별들을 가두시도다 그가 홀로 하늘을 펴시며 바다 물결을 밟으시며 북두성과 삼성과 묘성과 남방의 밀실을 만드셨으며 측량할 수 없는 큰 일을, 셀 수 없는 기이한 일을 행하시느니라 그가 내 앞으로 지나시나 내가 보지 못하며 그가 내 앞에서 움직이시나 내가 깨닫지 못하느니라 하나님이 진노를 돌이키지 아니하시나니 라합을 돕는 자들이 그 밑에 굴복하겠거든 하물며 내가 감히 대답하겠으며 그 앞에서 무슨 말을 택하랴 가령 내가 의로울지라도 대답하지 못하겠고 나를 심판하실 그에게 간구할 뿐이며 가령 내가 그를 부르므로 그가 내게 대답하셨을지라도 내 음성을 들으셨다고는 내가 믿지 아니하리라
