Our Firework vs His Firework
My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot,
like a root in dry ground.
There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance,
nothing to attract us to him. (Isaiah 53:2 NLT)
Most of us are craving for attractiveness in appearance.
We love to attract people by our fireworks or to be attracted by others'.
Whatever personal fire it is, we want to display it like a starlight in the night sky.
Nothing can beat the glorious look that warms the feeling of the poor, fallen souls.
Not so with God the Son, who came as a servant to serve God and mankind.
Though He got enough fire to warm up the whole universe,
He didn't even display a slight hint of having it.
Only fire work He displayed was to ride a young donkey, smaller in size than human's,
over the ragged carpet of poor people's cloaks.
Even that was to fulfill the Scripture,
not to satisfy egocentric heart burning like hot fire in most mankind.
Lord, help us not to show off what we got but to display what you show to us.
