HEAVENLY EXCLAMATION!

천상의 느낌표

2011년 8월 미국항공우주국이 허블망원경으로 찍어서

합성한 한 장의 사진을 보고 사람들은 미소를 지었습니다.

In August 2011, NASA released a composite image

from the Hubble telescope that left people smiling.

두 개의 은하계가 막 충돌하고 있는 모습의 사진이었는데,

그 충돌하는 모습이 마치 천상의 느낌표(!)와 같이 보였습니다.

The image is of two galaxies beginning to collide.

The collision looks like a heavenly exclamation point (!).

내가 읽은 가장 최근의 통계에 의하면 우주에는 약 천억 개의 은하계가 있고,

 각 은하계 안에 수천억 개의 별이 있으며, 지금도 더 많은 은하계가 계속 발견되고 있다고 합니다.

The latest statistic I’ve read says

there are about 100 billion observable galaxies in the universe.

Each galaxy has hundreds of billions of stars,

and more galaxies are being discovered.

CNN뉴스에서 이 느낌표 모양의 사진을 보면서

나는 놀라우신 우리 창조주 하나님을 기억했습니다.

When I saw the exclamation-point image on CNN,

I was reminded of our awesome Creator.

하늘이 하나님의 영광을 선포하고 있습니다.

하지만 하나님은 자신이 창조하신 우주보다 더 광대하십니다.

The heavens exclaim His glory,

but He is even greater than the heavens He has made.

솔로몬은 하나님이 임재하실 성전을 건축한 후에 이렇게 기도했습니다.

After Solomon built a temple for the Lord’s presence to dwell in,

he prayed:

“하나님이 참으로 땅에 거하시리이까

하늘과 하늘들의 하늘이라도 주를 용납하지 못하겠거든

하물며 내가 건축한 이 성전이오리이까”(왕상 8:27).

“But will God indeed dwell on the earth?

Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You.

How much less this temple which I have built!”.

광활한 하늘도 하나님을 모시기에 부족할 터인데

그가 지은 성전으로는 당연히 그분을 모실 수 없다는 것을 그는 알았습니다.

He knew that if the heavens couldn’t contain God’s presence,

the temple he had made surely couldn’t contain Him.

하나님은 우리의 유한한 마음으로 헤아리기엔 너무 광대하십니다.

The Lord is so much greater than our finite minds can grasp.

그러나 하나님은 그분의 아들이신 예수님을 통하여 우리가 하나님을 알게 해주셨습니다.

 하나님은 예수님을 이 땅에 보내 살게 하시고,

우리를 위해 돌아가시고, 다시 부활하시게 하셨습니다.

우리가 하나님을 믿을 때, 우리의 삶은 그분의 영광을 선포하는 하늘나라에 속하게 됩니다!

Yet He has made it possible for us to know Him

through His Son Jesus whom He sent to live on this earth,

to die for us, and to be raised.

When we believe in Him,

our lives join the heavens in proclaiming His glory!

1 Kings 열왕기상 8:22-30

[왕상] 8:22	Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the whole assembly of Israel, spread out his hands toward heaven
[왕상] 8:23	and said: "O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below--you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.
[왕상] 8:24	You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it--as it is today.
[왕상] 8:25	"Now LORD, God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, 'You shall never fail to have a man to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your sons are careful in all they do to walk before me as you have done.'
[왕상] 8:26	And now, O God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David my father come true.
[왕상] 8:27	"But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!
[왕상] 8:28	Yet give attention to your servant's prayer and his plea for mercy, O LORD my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day.
[왕상] 8:29	May your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, this place of which you said, 'My Name shall be there,' so that you will hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place.
[왕상] 8:30	Hear the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.

Jesus said He’s always with us, He will never leave our side; Someday we’ll be in His presence Where forever we’ll abide. Confidence in God’s presence is our comfort.

예수님은 항상 우리와 함께 계시며 우리 곁을 결코 떠나지 않으리라 말씀하셨네 언젠가 우리는 그분과 함께 있어 거기서 영원히 살게 되리라 하나님께서 함께 하신다는 확신은 우리에게 위안을 준다.
