1. Rise with the sun to pray.

 Pray alone. Pray often.

The Great Spirit will listen, if you only speak.

해 뜰 때 깨어 일어나 기도하라.

홀로 기도하라.

자주 기도하라.

신(The Great Spirit)은 그대가 얘기하기만 하면 들으신다.

2. Be tolerant of those who are lost on their path. Ignorance, conceit,

anger, jealousy and greed stem from a lost soul.

Pray that they will find guidance.

자기 길을 잃은 사람들에게 관대하라.

무지와 자만, 분노, 질투, 탐욕은 길 잃은 영혼에게서 나온다.

그들이 안내받게 되길 기도하라.

3. Search for yourself, by yourself.

Do not allow others to make your path for you.

It is your road, and yours alone.

Others may walk it with you,

but no one can walk it for you.

혼자 힘으로 자신을 찾으라.

다른 사람이 그대를 위한 길을 만들도록 허락하지 말라.

그건 그대의 길이며 그대만의 길이다.

다른 사람이 그대와 함께 걸어갈 수는 있어도

그 누구도 그대를 위해 그 길을 걸어갈 수는 없다

4. Treat the guests in your home with much consideration.

Serve them the best food, give them the best bed and

treat them with respect and honor.

내 집에 온 손님을 정성을 다해 대접하라.

가장 좋은 음식을 내 놓고 가장 좋은 잠자리를 주고

존중과 경의로 대우하라.

5. Do not take what is not yours whether from

a person, a community,

the wilderness or from a culture.

It was not earned nor given.

It is not yours.

자기 것이 아닌 것은

그것이 개인의 것이건 지역사회의 것이건

황무지에서 나왔건 문화에서 나왔건 취하지 말라.

그것은 번 것도 아니고 받은 것도 아니다.

그대의 것이 아니다.

6. Respect all things that are placed upon this earth

- whether it be people or plant.

그것이 식물이건 사람이건.

 지상에 있는 모든 것을 존중하라,

7. Honor other people's thoughts, wishes and words.

Never interrupt another or mock or rudely mimic them.

Allow each person the right to personal expression‎!!!.

다른 사람의 생각과 희망과 말을 존중하라.

다른 사람의 말을 끊지 말고 조롱하거나 무례하게 흉내내지 말라.

누구든 자기의 표현을 할 권리를 인정하라.

8. Never speak of others in a bad way.

The negative energy that you put out into the universe will multiply

when it returns to you.

남을 결코 나쁘게 말하지 말라.

           대가 밖으로 내놓는 부정적 기가 그대에게 되돌아올 때는

           몇 배로 커진다.

9. All persons make mistakes.

And all mistakes can be forgiven.

모든 사람이 실수한다.

그리고 모든 실수는 용서될 수 있다.

10. Bad thoughts cause illness of the mind, body and spirit.

Practice optimism.

나쁜 생각은 마음과 몸과 영혼에 병을 일으킨다.

낙관을 실천하라.

11. Nature is not FOR us, it is a PART of us.

They are part of your worldly family.

자연은 우리를 위한 것이 아니라 우리의 일부이다.

우리 모두 한 가족이다.

12. Children are the seeds of our future.

Plant love in their hearts and water them with

wisdom and life's lessons.

When they are grown, give them space to grow.

어린이는 우리 미래의 씨앗들이다.

어린이의 마음에 사랑을 심어 주고 지혜와 삶이 주는 가르침들로

북돋아 주어라.

그들이 자라면 찾이할 영역을 주어라.

13. Avoid hurting the hearts of others.

The poison of your pain will return to you.

다른 사람의 마음을 다치지 말라.

그대가 주는 고통의 독이 그대에게 되돌아오게 되나니.

14. Be truthful at all times.

Honesty is the test of one‘s will within this universe.

언제 어느 때나 진실하라.

정직은 이 세상(우주)에서 거치는 자기 의지의 시험이다.

15. Keep yourself balanced.

Your Mental self,

Spiritual self,

Emotional self,

and Physical self

- all need to be strong, pure and healthy.

Work out the body to strengthen the mind.

Grow rich in spirit to cure emotional ails.

그대 자신을 균형 있게 유지하라.

정신적 자아와 영혼의 자아,

감정적 자아,

육체적 자아,

이 모두가 강하고 순수하고 건강한 게 좋다.

마음을 강하게 하기 위해 몸을 운동하라.

영혼이 풍요롭게 성장하여 마음의 아픔이 치유되게 하라.

16. Make conscious decisions as to

who you will be and how you will react.

Be responsible for your own actions.

그대 자신이 어떤 사람이 될 것이며 어떻게 반응할 것인지를

의식적으로 결정하라.

그대 자신의 행위에 대해 책임지라.

17. Respect the privacy and personal space of others.

Do not touch the personal property of others

- especially sacred and religious objects.

This is forbidden.

다른 사람의 사적이고 개인적인 영역을 존중하라.

다른 사람의 개인적인 소유,

특히 성스럽고 종교적인 대상을 건드리지 말라.

18. Be true to yourself first.

You cannot nurture and help others if

you cannot nurture and help yourself first.

우선 그대 자신에게 진실하라.

먼저 그대 자신을 성장시키고 도울 수 없다면

다른 사람들을 성장시키고 도울수 없다.

19. Respect others religious beliefs.

Do not force your belief on others.

다른 사람의 종교적 신념을 존중하라.

그대의 믿음을 다른 사람에게 강요하지 마라.

20. Share your good fortune with others.

 Participate in charity.

그대의 행운을 다른 사람과 나누어라.

 자선 행위에 참여하라.
