PLUGGED IN  전원 연결

최근에 아내가 집에서 노트북컴퓨터로 일하다가

갑자기 배터리가 거의 다 떨어져 컴퓨터가 곧 꺼지려 한다는 것을 알게 되었습니다.

My wife was working at home on her computer recently

when she suddenly noticed her laptop battery power was low

and the computer was about to shut down.

하지만 컴퓨터가 전원에 연결되어 있었기 때문에 배터리 소모가 없었어야 했습니다.

The computer was plugged in, though,

so it shouldn’t have been using the battery.

노트북컴퓨터의 전원 코드와 멀티탭을 확인해본 결과,

아내는 멀티탭의 플러그가 벽의 콘센트가 아니라

멀티탭 자체에 꽂혀있다는 것을 알게 되었습니다.

Following the laptop cord to the extension cord,

she finally noticed that the extension cord was

actually plugged back into itself instead of the wall outlet!

아내는 나를 보고 재미있다는 표정으로 “여기에 뭔가 신앙적인 면이 있네요.”라고 말했습니다.

She looked at me, amused, and said,

“There’s a devotional in there somewhere.”

아내가 그렇게 말했을 때,

하나님의 능력에 관한 성경구절인 이사야 40:27-31 말씀이 내게 떠올랐습니다.

As she said it, I was reminded

of a passage of Scripture on the power of God: Isaiah 40:27-31.

이사야는 우리가 얻어야 할 참되고 끊임없는 힘의 원천이

“영원하신 하나님 여호와, 땅 끝까지 창조하신 자”(28절)라고 말하고 있습니다.

Isaiah identifies the true and unending Source of strength

from which we must draw ours?

“the everlasting God, the Lord,

the Creator of the ends of the earth”.

그러고 나서 그는 쇠약해지고 있는 사람들에게,

새 힘을 얻기 위해 주님을 올려다보라고 격려하고 있습니다.

Then he speaks to those whose strength is ebbing,

encouraging them to wait on the Lord

to find their strength renewed.

예수님은 자신이 포도나무요 우리는 거기에 붙어있는 가지라고 말씀하셨습니다.

이것은 우리가 하나님과 연결되어 있다면

“달음박질하여도 곤비하지 아니하겠고 걸어가도 피곤하지 아니하리로다”라고 한

이사야의 강력한 마지막 메시지와 유사한 말씀입니다.

Jesus spoke of us as branches abiding in Him as the Vine.

It’s a parallel to Isaiah’s powerful closing,

which promises that if we’re plugged into God we will

“run and not be weary, . . . walk and not faint”.

지치고 힘이 들 때 우리는 힘과 생명의 진정한 원천이신 하나님께 연결되어야 합니다.

When we find ourselves weary and distressed,

we need to plug into the true Source of strength and life.

Isaiah 이사야 40:27-31

[사] 40:27	Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"?
[사] 40:28	Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
[사] 40:29	He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
[사] 40:30	Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
[사] 40:31	but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

We are more than conquerors Through Him who loved us so; The Christ who dwells within us Is the greatest power we know. The Creator of the universe knows no power failure.

그토록 우리를 사랑하셨던 주님 때문에 우리는 승리자 그 이상이 되어 있네 우리 안에 거하시는 그리스도는 우리가 아는 가장 큰 능력이시라네 우주의 창조주는 능력이 끊어지는 법이 없다.
