Did you guys have wonderful Christmas?
I went to psy concert the day before Christmas. I had a great time over there. I saw Pak Ji-Young(백지영) dancing, and I thought she is beautiful.
I had a great time with my friends over there.
I went to Lotte department store. There are so many people that I could hardly move around.
Anyway, this Christmas isn't too bad for me.
The reason i wrote here is that i want you guys to recommend some vocabulary books. I will have another year, so i won't be the same lazy person i used to be next year. hehehehe
So, please recommend a nice vocabulary book for me?
첫댓글I haven't really made a good survey on such books, but the first thing you should decide is what you want to do with the vocabulary--passive use such as reading and hearing or active use such as writing and speaking.
Voc. books for passive use gives a few simple senses of the given word and emphasizes memorizing lots of words (vocabulary expansion), whereas those for active use provides information for properly using a give word--nuance, pattern, collocation, context, etc. I haven't seen any active voc. book
that contains all this information. So whatever you choose, you will have to use E-E dictionaries, especially for pattern and collocation. I haven't seen many books, but I liked the nuance explanation provided by <Perian Vocabulary>. This book combines voc. expansion (through word roots)
