※ Bible: 2Corinthians 4:7-15
※ Title: Living by faith? They want us to check.
I love you in the Lord, respect you in the Lord, and thank you in the Lord for showing faith in the Lord by worshiping him like me, in order to make sure that Corona is in the 4th Pendemic. I bless you in the name of the Lord that the Lord cherishes you and bless you forever.
God came to my heart a few days ago in the early morning prayer hour and you live by faith? He told me to check your faith. So am I living by faith today? They want us to check. That's what I prepared to tell you. In a way, this is a sermon to myself.
One day in 1969, somehow, my love for Jesus came into my life without realizing it. From that day on, I really liked Jesus. I loved the Bible so much that I put it by my bedside and slept. I read Jesus three times in the first year. Some even said I was crazy because of Jesus. I say and think of this grace as God's force majeure.
I didn't even know what this heart meant. I just liked Jesus. I didn't know why, but I liked it no matter what. Therefore, I liked our church missionary unconditionally. After that, I told him to believe in Jesus and come to church when he met anyone. I wanted to go to church even if I slept. Of course, I prayed at dawn. I wanted to go to the preacher and give it to you when I get something good.
I also wanted to clean the church. No one told me to do it. I just wanted to do it. I thought I had to. I was so happy when I did that. The hymns were so good that they came out on their own. I sang hymns whenever I had time. I don't know if others don't like it or like it, so I sang a hymn.
The hymn that I sang a lot at that time was "Close to Next Week." "Even if you go beyond the mountains to humps," "Everything in the world is like a dream," "It's like a cloud of hope in the world," and "This body that is called." Then I went to seminary, became a preacher, and became a pastor. When I first believed in Jesus, martyrdom was my dream. It was to die in the war of Jesus.
I thought it was a good thing to do that. But a few days ago, I was about to pray after the early morning prayer, and God's voice came to my mind. "Do you live by faith? Check your faith." I have a fear. I was nervous. So today's topic is "Are you living with faith?" "Check it out." Now, I'm going to check my faith by reading what you said today.
● I mean verse 7.
(2Co 4:7) But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
That's what they say. Yes, we are earthenware. It's a cheap and fragile earthenware. It's not a brass bowl, it's not a fraud plate, it's a jill plate.
The brassware is light and does not break. If it's crushed, you can just bloom. Even the chinaware doesn't break easily. However, not only does the earthenware break, but it is also difficult to recover even with gold. But God left all the good dishes and put treasure in us like jillware. You resemble Jesus in my life. You resemble a treasure-like belief more precious than gold.
It contains the wishes of heaven. I don't know how such a great favor came to us. It reminds me of the confession of Reverend Daniel Webster Whittle (1840-1901), who made the words of hymns chapter 310.
1. I know not why God's won-drous grace To me He hath made Known,
Nor why, un-wor-thy, Christ in love Re-deemed me for His own.
But "I know whom I have be-liev-ed, and am per-suad-ed that He is a-ble
To keep that which I've com-mit-ted Un-to Him a-gainst that day."
2. I know not how this sav-ing faith To me He did im-part,
Nor how be-liev-ing in His Word Wrought peace with-in my heart.
But "I know whom I have be-liev-ed, and am per-suad-ed that He is a-ble
To keep that which I've com-mit-ted Un-to Him a-gainst that day."
3. I know not how the Spir-it moves, Con-vinc-ing men of sin,
Re-veal-ing Je-sus through the Word, Cre-at-ing faith in Him.
But "I know whom I have be-liev-ed, and am per-suad-ed that He is a-ble
To keep that which I've com-mit-ted Un-to Him a-gainst that day.“
That's right. It's an unknown grace. It's unaffordable grace. It's not a favor I received because I wanted to. God puts treasure in my heart. After that, I became a different person.
Pastor Refus Henry McDaniel (1850-1940), who wrote the hymn chapter 289, testifies like this.
1. What a won-der-ful change in my life has been wrought Since Je-sus came in-to my heart: I have light in my soul for which long I had sought, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart. Since Je-sus came in-to my heart, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart: Floods of joy o'er my soul like the sea-bil-lows roll, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart.
2. I have ceased from my wand'ring and go-ing a-stray, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart: And my sins which were man-y are all washed a-way, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart. Since Je-sus came in-to my heart, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart: Floods of joy o'er my soul like the sea-bil-lows roll, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart.
But when Jesus comes, it is cut off. Some people have a habit of slandering others when they sit down. I don't want to do it, but I keep doing it. Some people spend their money like the Lord's money, while others take credit by spending your money like mine. If such a person takes charge of accounting, he or she will eventually cause an accident.
When I'm alone, I don't want to do it, but when I look at money, I get that habit. But when the Lord came, it was cut off. Yes, you are the master of our lives and the troubleshooter of our problems. Paul, therefore, headed for a prison guard who was agonizing at 16:31 of the Apostles.
"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household."
He teaches me that.
That's right. Does the old man who wants to hang up but doesn't hang up bother you? I bless you in the name of the Lord that you believe in Jesus.
3. I'm pos-sessed of a hope that is stead-fast and sure, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart: And no dark clouds of doubt now my path-way ob-scure, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart. Since Je-sus came in-to my heart, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart: Floods of joy o'er my soul like the sea-bil-lows roll, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart.
That's what he said. Is that so? Is your dream gone and hopeless? I hope you believe in the Lord Jesus. It's dangerous without dreams and hope.
4. There's a light in the val-ley of death now for me, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart: And the gates of the cit-y be-yond I can see, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart. Since Je-sus came in-to my heart, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart: Floods of joy o'er my soul like the sea-bil-lows roll, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart.
I testify that. That's right. Ahn Sook-kwon also said, "Don't forget to pray when it's dark in the future."
5. I shall go there to dwell in that cit-y I know, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart:
And I'm hap-py, so hap-py, as on-ward I go, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart.
Since Je-sus came in-to my heart, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart: Floods of joy o'er my soul like the sea-bil-lows roll, Since Je-sus came in-to my heart.
That's right. We definitely live in Daeso-myeon, Eumseong-gun in the middle of Korea.
But we believe that our hope is in heaven where the Lord is. Yes, we believe that treasure is God's people who live in earthenware. It may seem weak on the outside, but we believe that God is God's people with us. Therefore, I bless you in the name of the Lord that the Holy Spirit will help you live in the LORD every day.
● I mean verse 8-10.
(8) We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; (9) persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (10) We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
That's what they say.
That's right. First of all, "It's not cheap even if you're stubborn." Yes, while we live in this world, the forces of darkness sometimes insist on us and make us difficult. But I believe that God's people are unsympathetic. Because? I believe that God is blocking and opening the way to escape.
Paul, who had this experience, confesses in 1Corinthians 10:13 like this.
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
That's what he says. That's right, demons often drive us sick and burn out. Or sometimes money drives us to burn out.
And sometimes it's ridiculous to put us on a burnout. What should we do when we are vulnerable, when we are being stubborn? That is, what should I do when I feel that religious life or pastoral activity is now impossible? I listen to the testimony of my seniors.
Pastor Albright Hoffman (1839-1929) who wrote the hymn chapter 337 testified:
1. I must tell Je-sus all of my tri-als, I can-not bear these bur-dens a-lone; In my dis-tress He kind-ly will help me, He ev-er loves and cares for His own. I must tell Je-sus! I must tell Je-sus! I can-not bear my bur-dens a-lone; I must tell Je-sus! I must tell Je-sus! Je-sus can help me, Je-sus a-lone.
2. I must tell Je-sus all of my troub-les, He is a kind, com-pas-sion-ate Friend; If I but ask Him, He will de-liv-er, Make of my troub-les quick-ly and end. I must tell Je-sus! I must tell Je-sus! I can-not bear my bur-dens a-lone; I must tell Je-sus! I must tell Je-sus! Je-sus can help me, Je-sus a-lone.
3. Tempt-ed and tried I need a great Sav-ior, One who can help my bur-dens to bear; I must tell Je-sus, I must tell Je-sus, He all my cares and sor-rows will share. I must tell Je-sus! I must tell Je-sus! I can-not bear my bur-dens a-lone; I must tell Je-sus! I must tell Je-sus! Je-sus can help me, Je-sus a-lone.
4. O how the world to e-vil al-lures me! O how my heart is tempt-ed to sin! I must tell Je-sus, and He will help me O-ver the world the vic-t'ry to win. I must tell Je-sus! I must tell Je-sus! I can-not bear my bur-dens a-lone; I must tell Je-sus! I must tell Je-sus! Je-sus can help me, Je-sus a-lone.
He's doing it goes.
Hallelujah! That's right. Do you believe that you are the children of God? I believe so. What if? Don't worry. And please wait. I believe that the touch of our God, who watches his people with fiery eyes, will be with you. Therefore, I believe in God. Therefore, I bless you in the name of the Lord that you may be filled with the same faith as me.
That's not all. He says, "I am not discouraged by frustration."
One boy's school records said, "The class is difficult because of poor family conditions and a weak body." It is said that the boy was born weak and had no power to suck milk. People said he was a child who was hard to get over three years old.
The boy's father was on the run when he went bankrupt while running a rubber factory. The mother ran a small vegetable shop and struggled to raise her four sons. The boy became a matchmaker to help his mother in need. It was really a stuffy environment where I couldn't see.
But while reading the Bible, the boy read Psalms 62:5. If you look at it,
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.
That's what he was saying. The boy gained strength from that day. Therefore, I am not frustrated. I have developed a rich imagination by reading books, relying on God.
Yes, I believe that God's blessing has begun for him, whoever he is, if he has come to read the Bible himself.
Therefore, I bless you in the name of the Lord that the grace that begins to read the Bible will come today.
This boy later invented dynamite and became a world-class rich man. He is Alfred Nobel, the founder of the so famous Nobel Prize. Therefore, I believe that the saints should not be abandoned even if they are persecuted or destroyed if they are crushed. Because the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, is with the saints.
Therefore, the saint is always happy. This is the premium given to the saints. The Holy Father is happy at the brink of death. Why? Is that so? I believe that it is because of God's company. Therefore, Paul comforts and blesses Thessaloni, who is in the midst of a great rebellion in 1Thessaloni's previous book 5:16-18.
(16) Be joyful always; (17) pray continually; (18) give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
That's what he said. Therefore, I bless you in the name of the Lord that you are filled with faith like Paul.
● I mean verse 11-12.
(11) For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. (12) So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
That's what they say. What are you talking about? That's right.
I believe that Christians are people who accompany Jesus Cross. Because what about Jesus? Because it reminds me of the cross. Yes, the cross was a Roman death tool. Therefore, the cross is a sign of shame for the Romans at the time of Jesus. It was a symbol of fear.
But Jesus is a symbol of salvation for us. It's a weapon against demons. Therefore, in 1Corinthians 1:18, Paul said,
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
That's what they say. How about you guys?
I rely on the cross. I rely on Jesus' name. Therefore, look at the cross and give strength. What is the prospect? It's about showing love for the cross. It's about the power of the cross. If you don't know, you don't know, and if you know, you will fill in the gaps, and I believe that the Holy Spirit will fill them.
Yes, I believe that Christians are Christians who have the life of Jesus. Therefore, read the text again.
(12) So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
That's right. I believe that Jesus' life is still in history in us. What a mysterious grace.
Yes, I can't, but I believe you can. I can't, but I believe you can. I don't know, but I believe the Lord knows. Therefore, I bless you in the name of the Lord that this grace I have received may be with you today.
● I mean verse 13-14.
(13) It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, (14) because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence.
That's what they say.
That's right. Faith is spreading. No one can stop that speed. No one can stop him. You can't stop it by persecution. If you're persecuted, you'll be more active. It looks like it's going to stop for a while, but it's going to spread more in a little while. What a wonderful power is faith. What if the church is founded, the seed of faith falls? It must sprout. It's really amazing.
Is that gonna be a church? There's nothing to worry about. It's a must. This is my experience, the power of the gospel. However, the demon power may seem strong, but it will disappear in a little while. Why is that? It's because of the power of the power of the cross. The power of the cross is the power to save. It's the power that lifts you up. The power of the cross is the power of correction.
But the power of the devil is the power to kill. It's the devil's power to knock over. But no matter how much the demon tries to knock over and kill, the man under the cross will be raised, fixed, and new.
Therefore, I want you to stay close to the cross. I hope you get close to Jesus. This is a blessing. This is the grace I received. I believe that the Church is a place where the cross of Jesus flows blood. Therefore, I bless you in the name of the Lord that you will try to gather under the cross.
● I mean verse 15.
All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
That's what they say. That's right. I believe the conclusion of the gospel is for good. I believe in the grace of the church, for the saints, for the ministry, for the world, for me, for you.
And I believe that the purpose of the gospel is to make grace overflow and glory to God. Therefore, the gospel and Satan have different purposes. Satan is deceiving. Let it ruin and disperse. Therefore, I bless you in the name of the Lord that you may be one in the work of glory to God. Aman!
