The birth of missions in Myanmar
The motivation for doing missionary work in Myanmar was when Pastor Yoo Cheol-ho (an ordained deacon at the time) introduced Pastor Ryan while registering with the Church of the Nations.
Pastor Ryan entered Christ Theological University as a doctoral student, and the Church of the Nations supported his tuition with a scholarship.
Pastor Ryan is the best scholar in Myanmar who studied abroad in Korea and received a doctorate in theology, and many of his fellow pastors are competent theological professors.
After completing his studies, he returned to Myanmar and immediately established a seminary and worked to train pastors. With the support of Pastor Cheol-ho Yoo of Gimpo Chamjin Church and Pastor Hye-sik Hyeon of Mokpo Open Church, a three-story seminary building was completed, and 40 students are studying theology while living there.
Myanmar is a Buddhist country, and since the military government came into power for three years, it has been in the midst of a civil war with citizens resisting it. The society is extremely unstable, and the entire country is still under martial law. The economy has plummeted, and the people are suffering severe hardships.
It is a Buddhist country with a population of about 50 million, 85% of whom are Buddhists, and its territory is three times larger than Korea. It is a country that borders China and is in fact economically and militarily dependent on China.
With the support of Pastor Cheol-ho Yoo of Gimpo True Church and Pastor Hye-sik Hyun of Mokpo Open Church, a three-story seminary building was completed and the Emmaus Bible College is being operated, where about 40 students are living and studying.
So far, the Church of the Nations has sponsored generators for three churches and the construction of groundwater wells for seven churches. Currently, pastors and members of various churches are supporting 51 churches and seminaries every month. Church of the Nations helps run two churches and a seminary.
