<P><SPAN lang=en-us><FONT face=Verdana color=#000000 size=2>Some of these doubts were on display this week at a Washington,</FONT> <FONT face=Verdana color=#000000 size=1>DC</FONT><FONT face=Verdana color=#000000 size=2>, conference organised by the Campaign for America's Future. The 2,000 or so activists were the sort of people who happily stand up and cheer whenever you mention “taking back our country” or “the misleaders in the White House”. A roster of leading Democrats, including Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and John Kerry, did just that. But the response to Mrs Clinton, decked out in an orange trouser-suit, was much more nuanced. The audience delivered dutiful applause whenever she urged more money for education or health care. But a few booed even before she took the stage. And a vocal minority erupted in protest when she talked about “keeping faith with the troops”. She left the room to cries of “Bring them home, Hillary.”</FONT></SPAN></P>

(참석한) 2000여명 정도의 활동가들은 기꺼이 서서 "우리나라를 돌려놓자" 또는 "백악관의 잘못된 위정자들"을 외칠 때마다 함께 외는 사람들 그런 사람들이었다. Harry Reid, Nacy Pelosi 및 John Kerry를 포함한 민주당 지도부들이 그랬었다. 그러나 오렌지색 바지 정장을 입고 단상에 나타난 Mrs. Clinton에 대한 반응은 훨씬 더 미묘하였다. 그녀가 교육이나 보건 분야에 대해 더 많은 돈을 촉구할 때마다 참석자들은 의무적인 박수를 보냈다. 그러나 소수에서는 그녀가 단상에 있는 앞에서조차도 야유를 했다. 소수 목소리는 그녀가 "군대와의 약속을 지키는 것"에 대해 얘기를 할 때는 이에 반대하였다. 그녀는 "그들 (군대)을 집으로 데려오라, 힐러리"라는 고함에 대해 자리를 떠났다..
