The City of New Jerusalem Coming Down from Heaven
After the first heaven and first earth passes away and there’s no longer any sea, a new heaven and new earth is created and the Holy City New Jerusalem comes down out of heaven from God to this place. And it is said, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Rv 21:1-4).
After Physical Israel betrayed like Adam, God promised (prophesied) what will be fulfilled in the future through the Old Testament prophets; Jesus came and fulfilled those prophecies at the first coming (Jn 19:30) and promised (New Covenant) the things that will be fulfilled at the time of the second coming before he left. And through his second coming, he fulfilled all of the promised Revelation (Rv 21:6).
It is said that God’s will is done on earth as it is in heaven (Mt 6:10). Then, what was fulfilled in heaven, and what was fulfilled on this earth? The city of New Jerusalem is what was fulfilled in heaven. Why is it called the city of New Jerusalem? It’s because it’s not a thing of the old, but a new thing. The names of Jesus’ disciples (12 apostles) are written on the foundations of the city of New Jerusalem in Rv 21. This is because the disciples are the foundation upon which this city was built; therefore, this city is not a thing of the old, but it is a new thing.
The things of the old passing away and a new thing being created is the ending of Physical Israel’s city of Jerusalem on this earth, and the creation of the city of New Jerusalem in heaven. In the same way, a new heaven and new earth is created here on this earth today (Mt 6:10). Therefore, God and His tabernacle, the city of New Jerusalem, come to the tabernacle of new heaven and new earth, which was created accordingly (to the pattern of heaven), and become one. And by becoming one, death, mourning, and pain disappear.
This is the completion of God’s purpose and the fulfillment of our hope. God and His tabernacle return to this earth for the first time in 6,000 years. Since God and His tabernacle are no longer in heaven (spiritual world), heaven (spiritual world) is now just heaven (spiritual world). Now, the new people and new tabernacle that’s been created on this earth and the tabernacle from heaven and God come and live together as one. God and the city are holy, so these people must also be holy in order to live here together with them. This is why you had to be born again with God’s seed and freed from your sins by the blood of Jesus, who is righteous. This has been fulfilled at the time of Revelation. How was it fulfilled?
There were several intense wars between God and the devil at the time of Revelation. The people who belong to God and the people who belong to the devil also fought each other in these wars. Heaven is not a place you can automatically enter just because it is the time of Revelation. Bloody wars had to be fought and one had to overcome. How many lives have been sacrificed through these wars? We can easily guess (Ref. Rv 19:13, Is 9:5).
Persecuting and being persecuted is also war. Rv 20:4-6 says the martyrs and those who did not worship the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands come to life, enter the first resurrection with Christ, and reign together for a thousand years. Saying “come to life” indicates there was a lot of war and sacrifice for the sake of fulfilling Revelation.
There were many chosen people who were sacrificed in Rv 6 and 13, and the chosen people were taken into captivity and all nations were destroyed as seen in Rv 17 and 18. In Mt 24, this was referred to as a great war (tribulation) that happens for the first time since the time of creation. At this time, those born of God’s seed go to war as those belonging to Jesus. Jesus fought riding on a white horse and dressed in a robe dipped in blood. We also became the army of white horses (Rv 19), followed the Lord, and fought with him. Those who don’t die and are living at this time, are those who participate in the first resurrection.
