볼프스부르크가 골없이 무승부로 시즌을 시작하다.

->이번 경기에서 기회를 많이 놓쳤던 클리모비츠 선수

볼프스부르크는 분데스리가 첫경기에 헤르타 베를린을 홈으로 불러들인 경기에서 23,496명의 관중 앞에서 골없이 0-0으로 비겼다. 양쪽 모두 기회가 있었음에도 불구하고, 골은 쉽게 허용되지 못했다. 아르헨티나 출신의 공격수, 클리모비츠는 두 번의 쉬운 찬스를 놓쳤으며, 후반전엔 헤르타 베를린의 교체선수 지메네즈가 헤딩한 것도 골로 연결되지 못하였다.

양쪽 모두에게 있었던 찬스들...

경기 시작 후 8분에, 미케 한케 선수가 프리킥으로 경기 첫 슛을 날렸으나, 헤르타 베를린 골키퍼 피들러 선수가 쉽게 처리했다. 헤르타 베를린은 찬스를 만들기 시작하였으나, 15분에 라키치, 18분엔 질베르투 선수가 기회를 놓치고 말았다. 볼프스부르크에서 데뷔경기를 치르는 전 헤르타 베를린 수비수 마들룽은 16분엔 어느 누구보다도 더 높이 점프하여 헤딩을 하였으나, 많이 벗어났다. 6분 후엔, 클리모비츠와 묄레가 좋은 기회를 만들었으나, 뒤스부르크에서 볼프스부르크로 이적한 수비수인 묄레의, 슛은 골대를 근소하게 빗나갔다.

마키아디 선수가 경기양상을 다르게 만들 뻔하다.

홈팀은 힘을 얻기 시작했고, 결국 클리모비츠는 30분에 다시 기회를 잡았다. 헤르타 베를린은 말릭 파티 선수가 공을 놓쳤을 때, 심장이 덜컥 거렸을 것이다. 마키아디는 파티 선수가 놓친 공을 몰고서 페널티 에어리어로 들어갔다. 마키아디는 5미터 밖에서 혼자 서있던 클리모비츠 선수에게 패스를 하였으나, 이 덩치 큰 공격수는 공 밑 쪽을 찼고, 골대 밖으로 홈런을 날렸다! 3분 후 피들러 골키퍼는 한케 선수가 찬 프리킥을 골대 밖으로 펀치하였다. 이후로는 전반이 끝나기 직전에 질베르투가 프리킥을 찬 것 외에는 별다른 기회가 없었다. 양팀 모두 골이 없이, 힘겨운 줄다리기를 하였다.

클리모비츠가 또다시 쉬운 찬스를 놓치다.

양팀 모두 선수 교체 없이 후반전을 시작하였다. 49분엔 또다시 위협적인 슛이 피들러 골키퍼에 의해 막혔다. 66분엔, 강하게 쇄도하던 한케에 의해 클리모비츠가 결정적인 찬스를 얻었다. 하지만 또다시 이 아르헨티나 출신의 공격수는 페널티 박스 안에서 마크가 붙지 않았음에도, 골을 넣는데 실패했다.

인상깊은 활약을 한 지메네즈

헤르타 베를린은 1점에 만족하는 듯, 강한 수비에 치중하였다가 가끔씩 역습에 나서는 전술을 펼쳤다. 후반 막바지에 교체 출장한 지메네즈는 홈팀 골키퍼인 예취가 두 번의 놀라운 선방을 보이게 하였다. 볼프스부르크에 새 둥지를 튼 산타나는 데뷔골을 넣을 뻔하기도 하였다.

Wolves start with goalless draw

	Klimowicz: Out of luck

There were no goals for Wolves fans to celebrate on Sunday evening, as the team drew 0-0 at home to Hertha in the opening Bundesliga game of the new season, in front of 23,496 in the VOLKSWAGENARENA. Although both sides had their chances, a goal simply refused to fall. Argentinean striker Diego Klimowicz missed two sitters for the home side, while second half Hertha substitute Gimenez went close with a brace of headers.

New faces
The Wolves coach Klaus Augenthaler played two new signings (Möhrle and Madlung) in defence, and Santana and Krzynowek in midfield. Hertha coach Falko Götz left new signing Gimenez on the bench at first, opting to start the game with his new Croatian striker Lakic instead.

Chances for both sides
After 8 scrappy opening minutes, Mike Hanke fired an initial warning shot by way of a free kick which was easily dealt with by the Hertha keeper Fiedler. The capital city side started to create chances, the best of which were wasted by Lakic (15.) and Gilberto (18.). The former Hertha defender Alex Madlung had a good game on his debut, but headed well wide on 16 minutes as he rose above everyone else. Six minutes later, Klimowicz and Möhrle combined well but the defender who joined Wolfsburg from Duisburg during the close season narrowly missed the target.

Makiadi almost makes the difference
The home side began to gather momentum and Klimowicz was in the spotlight again after 30 minutes. Hertha hearts were in their mouths as Malik Fathi lost the ball to Makiadi while trying to dribble inside his own penalty area. Makiadi passed to Klimowicz standing alone some five metres out. The big striker got under the ball and blasted over the crossbar. Three minutes later, Fiedler punches away another Hanke free kick. Not much happened before the break aside from a Gilberto free kick on the stroke of half time. Both teams could hardly string two passes together and the game was goalless at the break.

Klimo misses another sitter
Both sides emerged unchanged for the second half, which began with another fierce shot being saved by Fiedler on 49 minutes. Hertha failed to get the final pass to their front two who were mainly left hung out to dry. On 66 minutes, superb approach work by Hanke resulted in Klimowicz with the goal at his mercy. Once again the Argentinean failed to hit an open goal while standing alone on the penalty spot.

Gimenez impressive
Hertha seemed happy enough with a point and stood solid in defence, while mounting some late counter attacks. Late second half substitute Giménez showed his heading prowess as he forced the home keeper Jentzsch into a couple of reflex saves. Nine minutes from time, new signing Santana could have scored on his debut for the Wolves.
