Jin Eun-sook, executive vice president and head of Hyundai Motor’s ICT innovation division, will become the carmaker’s first woman internal director to boost gender diversity on the firm’s board.

진은숙 부사장 겸 현대자동차 ICT 혁신부문장이 자동차 제조업체 최초로 이사회에서 성별다양성을 강화하는 여성 사내이사가 된다.

She is an IT expert with a strong career path in the nation’s tech industry. Before joining the carmaker in 2021, she served as NHN’s former chief technology officer and supervised the overall tech operations at the global IT firm.

그녀는 국내 기술산업에서 강력한 경력을 쌓은 IT 전문가이다. 2021년 자동차 제조업체에 합류하기 전에는 NHN의 전 최고 기술책임자로 근무하며 글로벌 IT 회사의 전반적인 기술운영을 감독했다.

Jin is the first woman executive to be included as a director of the automaker after winning a possible approval from its upcoming shareholders’ meeting slated for March 20.

진부사장은 3월 20일로 예정된 주주총회에서 승인을 받아 자동차 제조업체의 이사로 포함될 최초의 여성임원이다.

Hyundai Motor spoke highly of her ICT expertise with a broad range of experiences in the industry.

현대자동차는 업계에서 다양한 경험을 쌓은 자신의 ICT 전문성을 높이 평가했다.

“Jin has diverse experiences and strong expertise in the ICT industry, so we expect her to contribute to enhancing our competitiveness as a new internal director and strengthening gender diversity across our board,” an official from the carmaker said.

자동차 제조업체 관계자는 "진부사장은 ICT 산업에서 다양한 경험과 강력한 전문성을 가지고 있어 새로운 사내이사로서 경쟁력을 높이고 전반적인 성별 다양성을 강화하는 데 기여할 것으로 기대한다."라고 말했다.

She is widely expected to help the carmaker speed up its ongoing transition into a software-defined vehicle manufacturer.

그녀는 이 자동차 제조업체가 소프트웨어차량 제조업체로의 지속적인 전환 속도를 높이는 데 도움이 될 것으로 널리 예상된다.

Jin studied statistics at Seoul National University. She has since developed her career path with a focus on data processing, cloud and IT services. Hyundai Motor scouted her in December 2021 in recognition of her proven track record across the nation’s tech industry.

진부사장은 서울대학교에서 통계학을 전공했다. 이후 데이터처리, 클라우드 및 IT 서비스에 중점을 두고 커리어 경로를 개발했다. 현대자동차는 2021년 12월 국내 기술업계에서 입증된 실적을 인정받아 그녀를 스카우트했다.

She has focused on spearheading Hyundai Motor’s innovation in the IT and software infrastructure after joining the automaker. The executive has also dedicated herself to building a developer-focused corporate culture in an era of smart mobility.

그녀는 자동차 제조업체에 합류한 후 현대자동차의 IT 및 소프트웨어 인프라 혁신을 주도하는 데 주력해 왔다. 또한 스마트 모빌리티 시대에 개발자 중심의 기업 문화를 구축하는 데 전념해 왔다.
